I am truly disappointed by how many people are shortsighted and narrow minded with the notion of us being paid, in whole with penalty, over time with no penalty, or in shares. Particularly,
that people keep referring to Tapie as if HE caused us to lose our money. He did not, not even "Full Tilt Poker" stole our money, thats just a brand name,
PEOPLE stole your money, we know who those people are more or less, that is who / where your anger should be directed, not at the brand name / software / servers of Full Tilt Poker, and certainly not at any of the Tapie crew or associated investors.
Stop speaking as if Tapie owes you -ANYTHING-, he doesn't owe you, me, or any of us here a damn thing, and we should be kissing the ground he walks on if he provides us any significant % more than what we MAYBE could be getting if the deal doesn't go through, which is probably close to 0% and years down the road.
2nd, Tapie will most likely have to -back- all the balances and debts. Backing is different than paying out. Backing means the money is there, paying out means he's distributing it. As Tapie didn't steal your money, he shouldn't be condemned for not paying out 100% on Day 1 of acquisition (especially if the alternative is 0%), particularly because if he HAD to do that, he probably wouldn't be acquiring full tilt poker. Why? Well, to explain why and destroy the "he should create his own site" nonsense, A lot of people thinking Tapie would be better off just creating his own poker site, but heres what those folks are missing:
Full Tilt already has a player field, with lots of money to play with, not to mention servers, trusted SOFTWARE, advertising (even if its negative publicity, its better than no publicity)! Granted, Americans will be banished instantly, but the rest of the world is already there and able to play.
So if you have money there, and you don't want to take a penalty (in other words, you're in no dire straits and dont need the money immediately to pay for surgery or keep a roof over your head), then you'll take your money over time, which gives you lots of time to watch the NEW site's progress, see what sort of incentives (as opposed to penalties) Tapie offers to stay, bonuses, tournament guarantees, and who knows maybe the field turns out to be the softest on the internet because all the sharks take it personally that they didn't get paid out by the original FTP when it was convenient.
That, and I propose that a decent amount of players -will not- flee FTP AT ALL! I'm saying there are people who, with any amount of money (10's, 100's, maybe even 1000's) who either 1. Have died in the interim period, or otherwise been incapacitated from their ability to play online poker, maybe they're in prison, maybe they're in a coma, maybe they've forgotten, who knows, but that money will be staying in FTP,
and there are people who will wish to stay and keep playing with all or most of their bankrolls, not to mention folks who deposit, All of which means that a decent % of the money Tapie must -BACK- will not need to be paid out, and potentially not need to be paid out ever! And of course, in the mean time while players who take the over-time-payout deal wait, they might play some games too, generating rake meaning even less of the total $$ Tapie has to -put up- in the initial purchase will need to be -paid out-.
The more I think about it, the more I think Tapie and crew truly are geniuses in their fields. Putting up $390 million (or whatever amount he needs) is quite different from paying out $390 million. And of course, some of that $390 million will automatically be deducted by folks who choose to talk shares = Less Tapie has to put up = Better deal for Tapie which means its more likely for us to get our money.
