Right -- except it's the opposite of far-fetched. It's business. The fact that he's in Full Tilt's employ is entirely incompatible with the notion that he is not acting in the business's best interest. And my god, if there's anything we've learned about Full Tilt in these past few years (and months especially), it's that the players are far, far down on the totem of Full Tilt's primary concerns.
Full Tilt is acting like a business that has found itself, for whatever reason, in financial and legal trouble -- nothing extraordinary or surprising to see here. Just I urge you, please don't let it fool you. There's that whole "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" saying... but I don't think whomever coined it ever conceived that it would need to be expanded to "Fool me 19 times..."
