Trying to wrap my head around "I'm broke today with a family because someone accused me of cheating five years ago on a poker forum."

Ask SODR for a job imo.

Ah just let it die then, instead it got derailed by a guy who thinks someone might have been stuck 4M in make up back in 2014 lmao

You are right though, it probably had no chance, although you never know. Ironically enough the SODR haters are keeping it one page 1 so in my own way I’m doing what I can to help.

I have no way of communicating with Samantha. Hopefully someone makes her aware of this thread as she can definitely settle the debt if she were to lose the freeroll. I do not know if she still uses the pineapple ofc app, but I did send her this thread through there.

This is a hilarious thread because someone doesn’t have any idea how open face works and someone else has no idea how life works.

Think you’re going to have to take a L on this one and move on unfortunately. Lot of people welch. Don’t think they ever decide 5 years later to suddenly make good on it or even make a deal unless it’s a heavy haircut.

Pretty sure beckleys broke and Sam was probably advised not to pay you so not really any ramifications in the poker world for this. Really the mercier’s fault if you are taking legal action I’d pile it on them. They’re the ones who slandered you and caused issues after all.

OP needed to come in here with a better story. He needed to say he was in a coma for the last 4 years and has now awaken and these players owe him money.

The way it read now, it seems there was a cheating controversy if I remember it correctly, Merciers involved. But he also played Chinese against other players. These other players owe him money but haven't paid. Mainly because they are using the unproven cheating charges to not pay, except Beckley who was bankrupt. These players probably decided not to pay long , long ago for whatever their reason. OP most likely had written off these debts as well hence the silence for many years. Was probably most likely doing ok financially. But now things have gone bad financially, OP is struggling and has decided to take a shot at getting paid by these players now.

Whether in poker or other aspects of life. Getting paid debts after 5 years is tough even if you are constantly "on the case"

Getting paid after 5 years, in which 4 years you let it slide without attempts to collect. Probably much tougher. And thats if the debt is NOT IN DISPUTE!

Getting paid after 5 years , in which it was let slide for 4 years when the debt is IN DISPUTE and not agreed upon.... the expression grasping at straws comes to mind.

Regarding Berkey, he was never rich, was certainly backed. Only knew him and played with him before his bink. Assuming he only had max 20-25 % of himself. He might have one $800k max after taxes maybe $500K . Numbers could be even lower. Certainly a nice score but not set for life by any means. Can only speculate what happened afterwards, but probably played over his head and lost.

One shitty deal to get bought into the tourney with very low percentage of himself in addition to already being in debt and he could have seen very little to nothing of that 4m. Quite obvious to anyone with a clue about the poker economy. Doesnt mean he was "stuck 4m".

Lol you gave a ridiculous 0-5% range

None of us know the specifics on his situation but he didn’t get 0%. 5% seems like an absolute lower bound only occurring if very low percentage of himself and makeup

As stated initially, I only hope something good can come from this and I am offering 10% freeroll (on whatever I collect) to anyone who either helps in convincing Samantha to accept the freeroll or who outs her for not settling and not even responding to this freeroll opportunity. For the freeroll to apply the outing must have had an effect on Sam eventually accepting the freeroll. I am giving up to 30% in case more than one person qualifies. Thank you in advance.

Abernathys name hasn't meant anything in poker in like 10 years. Beckley has been broke and owing for a decade as well. Sorry but I think you let this one go a little too long, and have no recourse since they clearly don't give a **** about their reputations.

was she ever a thing though?

just feels like she was just a very good looking woman who played poker and went traveling with bilzerian and perkins

like this thing, this is basically them just giving her money

https://www.pokernews.com/news/2016/...ides-24452.htm

Quote:
Just over two weeks before Bilzerian took off for Los Angeles on a bike, Samantha Abernathy completed her bike ride to the City of Angels from Las Vegas. Her bet was with Bilzerian for $10,000, but she was on a freeroll, having to put up no money herself.

The terms of Abernathy's bet were similar to Bilzerian's, but she had 72 hours to complete the ride.
it only seems difficult because people usually don't do this stuff - but there was 0 chance of failure

it's basically 26 hours of casual riding with a steady downward slope other than some upward elevation at the start

even if it were the significantly more difficult sea level -> 2,000 feet elevation ride going the other way, it's still easily attainable in 3 days.

most weekend road rides by cyclists are over 100 miles - being given 3 days to cover 320 miles going downhill was not a difficult task at all for any person in moderately decent shape

this is literally the bike bilzerian did the same ride on in 33 hours - she had 72

he did cheat like hell though paying a van to drive with the doors flung open in front of him so he would have a clean draft

freeest money in the history of the world - really thought this was their way of just paying a hot girl to hang out with them much like how in college some guys would happily provide weed and booze to hot girls in hopes they'd hang and would get with them- they'd often go traveling a lot as well

you take away that she was perkins/bilzerians side piece and she's an absolute nobody in the poker world

https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/pla...p?a=r&n=321006

2/3 of her total cashes have come from one 3rd place finish

she cute though

i remember at the time it happened there were a bunch of people claiming it couldn't be done in 3 days and I tried booking action left and right, even offering as good as 10:1 and sadly couldn't get anyone to do it

i had arranged a 50k prop bet I couldn't ride a bike from Miami to LA in a month and we were still trying to determine an escrow service (because no way I was going to do that and then not get paid) but then after she completed it the guy changed his mind and backed out

would have actually been difficult in the sense that a lot more can go wrong - ie if i got sick, some family emergency came up, etc i would have lost

also the guy wasn't sure how to keep honest tabs on me and frankly i couldn't blame him for that

really upset it didn't happen as that's something i literally plan on doing anyway for fun - already rode across europe so now want to knock out my own country

and yeah, it definitely felt like they were just finding excuses to pay her and felt really sus

I knew him before his bink. I was at the rail when he played the final table in November.

He had 40% of himself. Matt Glantz had 50% or maybe even all 60%. After paying that off and taxes, he still walked about to the tune of about $1,000,000. He immediately bought a BMW, a condo in Florida and never saw or talked to him again. He changed a lot from before that tournament until the November 9. He liked to party a lot. Then he went full vegan/health nut and there was his new 'crew' following him around and he barely said a word to 5 close friends that all came to Vegas to support him. After the tournament, he didn't go out to drink or hang with any of us. He was with his family. But it would have been nice to grab a drink with some close friends from home who cared enough to fly out and support him.

One funny anecdote is that he paid Alec Torrelli to coach him leading up to the November 9 and he said he was a horrible coach and was a total waste of time.

His account that could be looked at on highstakesdb was asdf26. You can see he played in a few games where he lost $115,000 online.

I do remember he was a big fan of OFC and kept telling me to get into it and learn it while it was in its infancy. He taught me how it was played. I still never played it.
