Nice needle by Trebeck when Matt missed his daily double. "Sorry mom"

Great performance, great strategy. Especially wagering $100 on the DD.

Crushed! Congrats
So well played, and pretty cool that Trebek said it's the most dominating performance in their tournament history. Unfortunate that he didn't go on a crazy long run in the regular season. I haven't watched very much, but he has to be one of the best players that's been on the show, results aside. Jennings must have run really well to have gotten his nearly unbeatable streak, from the ones I've seen his strategy wasn't very impressive. Liked Matt's all in and liked Alex' no bet, shows that both were aware. Was kind of worried Matt was gonna make a bad bet in FJ to end up 3rd but fortunately didn't happen.

You can tell he's a poker player, absolutely perfect bet sizing on the DDs and FJ both days.

Trebek called it the most dominating tournament performance ever. That's pretty high praise.

Not to mention the lolz when he had runaways on FJ. And his answering style on DDs.

imo the game is 50% timing your buzz in, 25% bet sizing and getting the DD, 25% knowing the answers.

I bet it's a bittersweet moment for Alex. On the one hand, he crushed the TOC. On the other hand, I bet he thinks about what could've been on the regular season had he not suffered a bad game potentially very early in the epic run. It certainly felt to me like 6 game winning streak was not reflective of his performance.

I'm going to miss Alex on there, we will have to wait until another ultimate tournament which could be a long time. Was a lot of fun to watch, I bet he regrets not guessing Instagram over Twitter but that's how it goes. Still became a legend in the process. Congrats man.

Tonight will probably be the last time I watch Jeopardy for a few years...unless another poker player makes it on the show but I doubt anyone will come close to AJ's awesomeness!

Definitely one of the greatest performances ever on Jeopardy . I agree the 6 game win streak seems like a under achievement considering how dominant he was against the best of the best .

He ran reasonably hot, yes. However, you barely need good strategy when you know every answer and have a good buzzer game. He also had a pretty good strategy that I don't see many contestants do. He would routinely buzz in before he knew the answer because he assumed he could figure it out in time.

damn alex was so good throughout this tournament he also had me thinking that it was rigged.

But really they have no reason to rig a boring outcome. If your gna rig the game, your gna make it really really good tv. any casual jeopardy fan that has no idea who alex is probably thought that this tourny was boring.

Congrats Alex!!! Very very nicely done. Brains with a poker player's mentality on gaming tactics... too much to overcome for even the great Matt Jackson, let alone the rest of the field.

I started thinking the other night that one of Alex's tactics may have been to just ring in at first possible chance, hoping the answer would come to him, if it hadn't already, given he has such a high percentage of being correct. If you wait even 1 second for the answer to "come to you", that may be too long against top notch competition. Come to find out this has already been suggested in this thread:

Are you guessing this or did AJ acknowledge this as a tactic he employed? I know he stalls sometimes after buzzing in but that alone doesn't prove that he is auto ringing in. Many times you think you know the answer, you buzz in, then you brain fart. Nonetheless, I'm with you, I think he is buzzing in automatically...least I think there's a reasonable chance of it.

I've never watched the ToC before. Didn't realize it was a 2 part episode. I DVRed the episode but deleted it when I saw the players, thinking it was a repeat of Thursday's episode. Can someone please PM me a link to watch the finale? TIA!

Personally, I don't think Alex did this. If he did not more than once or twice. But Ken Jennings admitted he did this regularly during his run. It's a good strategy for wordplay categories and similar.
