Joe, congratulations on winning it all. From a fellow Michigander (raised in St. Clair Shores off 11 Mile and Harper until I was 13 anyway) it made me feel good that you represented Michigan and poker players in general quite well.

I must also say that you really seemed like the most likable guy at the final table from the get go. You were the only one who didn't seem all uptight and seemed like you were enjoying every minute of being that. And you actually seemed like you meant it when you said good luck to everyone, or said sorry about a bad beat you put on them. We all know nobody REALLY means sorry, but everyone has been there and can empathize with taking a soul crushing beat in a crucial time. It was just good Karma for life in general, not just for the main event.

I was rooting for you for the above reasons and especially after you got down under $3M in chips and had about 1% of the total chips in play because it made for a great story line, along with the youngest main event winner angle. I must admit, Darvin Moon also made for a great storyline as of course did Phil Ivey. Not to take anything away from all the other players, but no one else seemed as compelling as you three. You certainly made it a main event that will be talked about for years to come.

I'm sure that we will see much more of you on TV in the coming years so good luck with all of that. You seem like a very smart and level headed kid and hopefully You will deal with all the distractions and temptations in a way that will make your parents and yourself proud.

To all the haters out there, get a life. Joe went out and made his bones the only way that really counts.....on the felt. While he doesn't need to defend any of his play to anyone, I think it's classy (and pretty neat) that he's come on 2+2 to respond to all the talk about the main event and his magical (and obviously very lucky at times) run.

So in closing: Life long and prosper. (OK, I cribbed that one).

For all those people who I agree what I said thank you and for the others than thats fine to everyone is subject to there opinion. Did I get extremely lucky during the final table of the main event? Yes I did, but as an extreme critic to my self play I was not mad about how I played any hand even though I got lucky. The table was 17 hours long cut into 2 hours so for people thinking they see all the big hands its pretty ridiculous. They don't show the 9 -10 hands where I 3bet shipped light and chipped up 20 percent of my stack everytime. They don't show 4 bluff steals or how often someone opens either. For having a 20bb stack 5handed to someone who open's 25percent of their hands and have yet to call a 3bet and has the perfect stack size where It would crush them isn't bad to ship 33 im sorry. Also noted that shulman raised the button with 99 and folded to phil ivey's ship from the bb.. Did I run like god at the final table 100 percent correct. Now 22 when your playing 3handed opening basically every pot and the person to the left of you is really aggr and has 3bet a lot and you have 40 bb with tons of fold equity noting 1hand he thought up to 5min getting it in preflop to a button 4bet after he 3bet with ak in bb is not bad. Some may not understand this but oh well. Now on other terms while we are fighting to protect online gambling stating its a skill game rather then gambling why would I say poker is luck evennnnnn if I did get lucky.
come agen?

who was your backer and what % did he/they take?

i think both the 22 and 33 hands were pretty reckless and over-aggro. obv you thought the opponents were so tight that they would fold. however, if they are tight then their likely raising+3bet hands are pretty good. i mean.. what % of his 3bet range is Saout folding there to a push from YOU?

w/e.. you put up you/other people's money and took your chances. congrats. i hope since you know about tourneys and variance that you can appreciate how lucky you were at the FT and what % of the time you bust in those hands long term etc. obv you are +EV in the WSOP ME but that isn't hard to be. your EV for entering is $xx,000 so please understand how above EV you ran. stay grounded and don't go thinking you're the best in the world.

Bad at writing.

Bat at breathing with mouth closed.

Not sure why I'm supposed to like this guy anymore than any other main event winner. Seems like a douche.

joe got lucky, he knows he got lucky. you have to get lucky to win the ME. he seems like a decent guy. what do i know; ive only seen what was shown on espn. and i heard about him throwing a huge party for a bunch of players and media, despite the fact that he could only attend for a very short time since his gf is under 21.

in any case it wont be difficult to be a better ambassador than eastgate, yang, etc. and whether or not you feel he is qualified to be labeled as an "internet pro", the fact remains he has a presence online and can hopefully help the general image of online players in the US.

i say congratulations, joe.

I watched most of the tourney and all the final table coverge.

Its a lottery.

Any Ace, all in, any pair, all in.
Its the same as a 5 dollar SnG with a little more patience early on.

5 million people a week online playing poker. A few dozen ´poker wizards´ are bound to have freakish runs.

How many coin flip, races do you think those guys at the table had won to get that far? Really, what are the odds on winning 10, 12, 15 coin flips in a row.

Its lottery odds. Dont get me wrong, id love to have go. I loved watching it all unfold but it really irritates with the talk on wonderful plays, and talented pros versus hopeful Ams. The winning pro sucked out again and again
