From all my friends who stopped playing professionally because they wanted to use their time and money for something more meaningful, not a single one came back to playing full-time again. Most still enjoy to play some poker, just not as an everyday "job" anymore.
That's the great thing about poker. You can stop playing full time, play every now and then and still do well (well if you are actually a decent player that is).
