Agreed with Tony not being in the wrong. Did he freeroll? Sure. But Hannibal completely opened himself up to it. Tony took advantage of a spew from a tilted opponent. Did Hannibal have any problems with Tony after the fact?

Also, not commenting on the shadiness of the site, but I can't see how these games would be 'fake' somehow. Just FYI: anyone can deposit a few milli crypto, get approval from CS to sit highstakes, and then play in these games if they chose. Haven't heard of anyone getting stiffed by Coinpoker as of yet.

Thanks for your post, and this part seems particularly spot on to me. Obviously Tony G would not have gone for 1M with a shitty hand...

On the other hand, Hannibal kept on acting like 2M is nothing to him, and he insisted to go all in.. so if I were in Tony's shoes, I think I would not have done better on a "moral" POV...

In my opinion, that’s just Tony G being clever. He didn’t put up much of a protest, and my definition of ‘insisting’ is different than yours since he clearly ended up flipping for it all. Tony knew he had said ‘$400k’ before he saw his cards, so he couldn’t immediately agree to the all-in once he saw them. So, he meekly said ‘No, stick to $400k’ to cover his ass (or, possibly to hook his fish even deeper). He pretty quickly agreed to flip for it all, though, and I think he only did that cause he had a strong hand.

With this said, they did not both agree on anything pre hands were dealt of course. But I can't see how TonyG is the one doing an angle here, he still wanted 400k flip though he's seen his hand. Also, HannibalGetya raised to 376000 pre-flop, making it impossible for TonyG to raise to 400k. And after that raise:
If Tony had actually insisted on the $400k he could’ve just called the 376000 preflop, and said ‘No, $400k’. Two things would’ve happened, either Hannibal would’ve shoved on the flop (that would’ve been shady on his part imo) or he could’ve bet $24k and it would’ve been the same result as a $400k flip. Instead, Tony put up about as much protestation as Willy Wonka when a kid did something wrong and Hannibal got flushed to the Bad Egg Room.

I don’t have much pity for Hannibal, but I do think it was kinda shady and a freeroll. I’m def not losing sleep over it lol, just my opinion.

Im far from Tony G fan, but I dont think he's in the wrong here - sure, he could have written "I have a big hand, still want to go all in?", but something like that is definitely not mandatory

It’s not even remotely shady. He agreed to 400k, the guy changed the rules midway through the hand. How can Tony G ever be in the wrong there??
02-13-2022 , 05:31 PM
There was definitely a grey area to it that we'll never know would happen or not. If he had a bad hand would he have insisted harder on 400k or just take 1mil flip on the chin?

i honestly missed the part where Hannibal changed the rules midway through the hand (likely due to my eyes bleeding from reading those unconverted hand histories) but i agree with this.

I’ve pretty thoroughly explained my read on the hand. We just disagree. That’s fine.

There are things which merit opinions, this is not one of them. It’s like you saying the sky is blue and I say that my opinion is that it isn’t.

It’s just not an angle.

Sure thing, boss. I guess that settles it lmao.

Pretty ridiculous when compared to the old days of nosebleed poker. Looking at highstakesdb, the total of top ten hands back then equals to $8,998,614. Compared to biggest pot this weekend at ₮7,750,652. It's more than the total of top eight hands at hsdb.. lol

Doesn't feel the same. When the pots went down at Railheaven you had the feeling that the players actually battled their way to get there and were putting their life on the line. This just feels like rich hedge fund managers flipping for the fk of it.

It kinda is. But you also got Omaha4Rollz, Trueteller and Gravis putting their share of blood on the table. I do agree it's overshadowed by Tony G and Hannibal clearly giving zero ****s about the stakes.

Yeah, I agree somewhat. All those players has grinded their way up to the top nosebleeds. But shouldn't Tony G count as well, surely he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, I figure he began building his bankroll through grinding tables and tournaments as well, but I might be wrong. Seems as if Hannibal also is some kind of high stakes PLO player, at least if you read his chat, mentioning playing styles of other players not present at the table. But he might be joking around.

Clearly giving zero ****s : ) Well, Tony G didn't want to flip for more than 400k, and Hannibal never wanted to join the 10k/20k plo table which Tony asked staff to open (lol!), calling Tony a sicko. So clearly, they give some ****s.

For me, the overshadowing is the completely insane jump, from previously available nosebleeds at 1k/2k to these stakes. It's so ridiculous, you simply can't believe it. It's like "it must be fake money". And I enjoyed watching Viktor battle all of the top regs at the same time. Unbelievable. But my glory railbirding days are still the 200/400 HU tables at Prima, with Zweig, bad_ip, I_KNOCKOUT_YOU, tsarrast, TiltMeNot to mention a few. $400 just for a big blind is actually quite some money. Hard to remember these days.

Has anyone seen any news/press about the 7.75mil pot? Tried some google, didn't find anything. Is this now what's left, only paid advertising posts every poker topic that exists? Then who the fff keeps paying sht like Doug Polks weightlossbet news lol

For me, I don’t think anything will top 2009 or whenever it was Isildur came to Full Tilt and destroyed Tom Dwan in their headsup battle.

His subsequent battles were great also, but nothing will beat Durr v Isildur on Full Tilt.
02-14-2022 , 09:09 AM
I remember during the Isildur madness there was speculations about Tony G staking him. Blom was a reg at Coinpoker as well at some point.
02-14-2022 , 11:21 AM
Have we identified who all the players are in this game?

Some are obvious, some aren't.

Chattahooche-?
HannibalGetYa-?

Tony and Omaha4Rollz are obvious. People are saying Ataka is TT.
02-14-2022 , 11:30 AM
Chattahooche - Grazvis1
HannibalGetYa - LooneyGerbil @ PokerStars

Do you mean G would've staked him after the initial madness? Because during the november 09 run when he played everyone simultaneously it was a very clear path where he his money had come from; he ran it up on the site (well, from 25/50 and on). The money he lost to hastings was won from durrrr mostly, and they had step-by-step kicked the stakes up as isil kept winning

I recall no discussions over tony g staking him..
