I find it weird to see San Quentin listed on Hendon Mob.

He's also won millions playing in Macau prisons.

Joe Reddick, 47, whose biggest haul to date was $217,792 at the Borgata Winter Poker Open in Atlantic City this month, perfected his game playing with fellow cons — including a Colombian drug lord known as “Pepe” — at the 11 federal prisons he was in along the East Coast."

“At first, it was a time-killer. Then it became a passion. I would play all day, all night, seven days a week,” Reddick told The Post. “I became infamous. Any prison I arrived at, they knew there was going to be a big poker game going on.”

“I lost about $7,000 worth of Snickers bars. That’s how I learned.”
I learnt in the uk jail system.

Some people find his play a bit...interesting, but he's been rather solid from what I've seen. Joe's well-respected on the east coast and has been always been pleasant in our interactions. I do agree that his earnings do seem a bit embellished, but I'm not exactly going to confront him about it lol.

Timely catch at final table

"In a stretch that saw no eliminations, Reddick was able to pull ahead of Jattin before the hand of the tournament went down. At Level 37 (250,000/500,000/50,000), Jattin and Reddick got in a preflop raising war that ended with Jattin six-bet shoving 21.5 million and Reddick calling with two kings. Jattin, however, had aces, but instead of taking an insurmountable lead, he busted in fifth when Reddick found a king on the turn.

Having the rest of the table covered at that point, Reddick easily rolled over Bral, Hector Chevalier, and finally Almog Biton to secure his first live win. "
You don't give up drug dealing and get out of prison to fold kings at the final table.

I've noticed this guy on Instagram because we have some mutual friends. Although he does travel the circuit and poker is his primary income, I definitely think the NY Post could've found hundreds of players with a more interesting story. I don't see how an ex-con turned semi-pro story is, in any way, good for this game. And him being a millionaire? 100% fabricated LOL.

So the article doesn't say that is tournament winnings only, it also mentions cash. Why are people on here so dense?

Anyone know what stakes he plays cash (since it seems a few are familiar with him)?

So, it was only about 300K in winnings over a 6 to 7 year span before this win. That is like 50K per year of just cashes, not actual profit. Still not bad of course, so no disrespect meant, but certainly not 'millions of dollars' and 'cleaning up', considering all of the buyins it looks like he invests. Somewhat interesting story though, I guess....
Actually the article says between tournaments AND cash games he has won $1.5 million.

I've played with him in 2/5 and 5/10 NL cash at casinos (all within the last two years) and I believe he plays at similar stakes in NYC as well. It'd be hard to make 900k+ in 7-8 years at those stakes, but I'm not exactly sure what he's played in the past. From what I've heard, he's improved quite a bit at cash over the years so I doubt he was playing/winning at higher stakes in the past.

I have no idea if there is truth to how much he has made. But if he was mostly playing 5/10 in good games, and putting in the hours, you can make 900k in 8 years.

A better story? not good for the game? 18 year old poker player drops out of school and plays poker instead of going to school, think that be lot more scary for readers of ny post (omg what if my son or daughter ruins there live)

All this bad for the game talk lol read a story and you think omg this is the kind of story that is bad for poker jeez.

Get me playing poker (if a ex con can do it so can i)

I hope he stashed some cash away and is indeed a millionaire now.

If you can beat the game for snickers bars then you can beat live. Akin to the if you can beat .25 .50 online you can beat live analogy.

He actually shanked a friend of mine at a tournament last year after a bad beat. Luckily he made it to the hospital before he bled out.
