p.s The crazy part is living through moneymaker - I feel as though ive learned enough about poker and just the nature of the average human being to last two lifetimes.I believe eventually once online poker is legalized here in the us that a second poker boom is inevitable.Granted perhaps not as entirely as big as this last one in like say 2004ish but significant non the less.I wonder if our generation of players (2003 - present) will pimp and rob this next one on any comparable level.Just a thought.

Christ this thread is taking forever for me to read..but its cool.One other thing i remember is doyle saying "I dont loan money and i dont borrow money" And i thought now theirs how you do it.
That was until a few months later on an episode i believe of HSP that i dont recall specifically(and to be fair to doyle i wont lean either way since i dont recall) but he either loaned or borrowed chips at the table.Guess its easier to give advice than it is to follow it.
I mean doyles still my dude but i must admit it let a little air out of notion of the wise old owl.

Didn't Doyle give Brandy H $2000 to help her out a few months before she killed herself? Plus I'm sure he gave Stuey some money way back when. Although these aren't loans the facts are giving money to drug addicts and drunks usually turns out bad.

I have a ton to say about this topic, mainly focusing on the key cultural differences between the newer generation vs the old. It isnt a commentary on what's better, simply explaining the difference. For example, I couldn't count on both hands and feet the number of times I've played in a cash game with someone who owes me say, $20k, has $27k in front of them, and the thought of collecting didn't cross my mind. Didn't really effect friendships, didn't bother me too much, I just rooted for them to get back on their feet so that they'd eventually be in a spot where they could afford to pay me back and still keep a working bankroll.

Poker world has changed a lot. Again, not saying for better or worse, just the expectations are totally different. A lot of the younger guys "get it," I'd say most actually, at least the ones who play higher.

I lost some money to Mercier last year on side bets. it was technically due January 1st. I hung out with him at PCA where I didn't wire money, and I then wired 300k to Aussie for tourneys. I didn't pay him till about last week. He never made a big deal out of it. I wasn't "slow paying" or stiffing him, just figured I'd take care of it when I saw him and had the money handy.No big deal.

I'll go into way more detail in my blog, but I definitely think Edog made loads of mistakes and was out of line expecting a stranger to conform to a culture he wasn't either part of, or aware of.

He wasnt aware of how it was o.k to be a freaking degen liar thats just an old skool thing.Nice one D bag
