In Israel in underground clubs the rake is 10% and capped at 50$.
I still won't ever play there again.

They don't spread any low limit stuff at that location, I'm not going to say exactly where it is either, its invite only in any case and they don't really like decent players playing there (yes, some well know players have gone in spite of the rake).

The other (lower) underground games have pretty much dried up since Greg was murdered at the start of the year in Reyes. Occasionally there is a nice game going on Saturdays/Thursdays at Club 8 pool hall with .5/1 blinds and also Ijmuiden Saturdays.

Why would you ever get stuck with that kind of rake in Toronto? Between the Unit, Beaches, etc, $15 is unheard of here.

Never heard of the club 8 games, might check that out if I get in contact with someone whose played there.

What happened?
There was an armed robbery at a place called Reyes in Amsterdam where an underground poker game was run. I don't know many details about what happened, but in their press release, the police say that after telling everyone to lie down and while grabbing the loot, a guy called Greg Kelly resisted verbally. The robbers threatened him with their guns and took him to a back room, shots were fired, robbers fled in panic, Greg didn't survive the assault.

Greg co-founded and ran club Reyes. They spread 2/4 NL generally with a 5% 20 max. cap on the games.

The place was doing so-so, and I think it was the last straw for Greg when he saw what money there was, being taken from him. He resisted verbally and physically and unfortunately for him, the gunmen were not bluffing and shot him point-blank in the head. The saddest part is that on a good night there might be 3-4k in the place. One of Greg's catchphrases still resounds loudly in my head today: "You know me Paul, I'm a survivor".

i was playing the biggest game in the casino 50/1 and imperium was coming by to buy all the rectangular chips for some game "upstairs". i guess this is what he was talkin about
