This room is run like a home game and management has no control - I posted months ago in the derby thread about an experience where they just let a drunk regular verbally assault everyone at the final table of one of their nightly tourneys and did nothing. Not sure what happened with the shooting, but when you have no control over how anyone acts in your poker room it increases the chances that fights, or much worse, can break out.

I hate to hear this stuff go on anywhere and hope the suspect has been caught by now and the victims are ok.
This has me wondering what is going on in Florida, is it too hot in november down there or something?

Haha! I played there regularly 10 years ago and it was such a shithole back then. I always had to take a taxi to Derby Lane because my daily driver was way too nice to leave in that parking lot (even valet was shady).

wtf is going on with florida? I used to love it, but it seems to be dangerous there, first this and then the guy on fire, what else is going on there?

I grew up in Florida, went to lower/middle/HS <10 min drive from Derby. After graduating, before BF, I lived in the area and would randomly play every now and then. One night I was just casually lookin at some guy to my left bc he was up, and I had just won a huge pot off him, and he asked me what I was lookin at and I just said "it's on you", and he responded by punching my chips off the table and laughing. I sorta just looked around like "uhh, what?" and a floor told him he had to go. As he was bein escorted out he told me he hoped I liked my $ bc I wouldn't have it long and he'd see me outside. Security told me someone would escort me to my car but when I got up at ~5 AM there was only one guard left and he said he couldn't leave his post. I was like 19 and walking to my car was quite the experience lol.

FWIW, while I haven't been back in 5-6 years, I had very few other experiences like that, and I would say most of my interactions with dealers, floor managers, waitresses, etc, were all extremely positive.
