This is not correct since it's already affecting players with net positive accounts.
As it stands, sites don't seem to care about any sort of history - which I don't understand since there's currently no law on this matter? Please correct me here.

When these new checks sites will have to look at these past 7/30/etc days history but then they say the decision does not need to be revised in less than 6 or 12 months (depending on the check iirc). I mean, everyone understands how stupid this is right?

If I'm up 250k in a site but have been withdrawing (why would I keep 250k on a poker site) and then have a downswing and need to deposit to keep playing my normal stakes I won't be able to. Not to mention use cases with multiple sites involved, which is 100% of the cases for a professional.

I assume the relevant people posting in this thread have submitted their answers to the consultation?
Is there anything else we can do as a poker community? I see the betting/racing community very active on twitter and alike (they are also much bigger than us). But would be nice to have some high-profile UK poker pros discussing this.

Additionally, I don't think this affects only the UK. From the moment the recreational faces an affordability check (which is anything but frictionless) they will likely stop/move their money elsewhere be it live casinos, whores or booze which affects every professional in other countries given the UK has a decent amount of reg/rec ratio.

Ultimately this is a political issue, the government has control of gambling regulation and it is a reserved power for Westminster from Scotland and Wales. You have to get MP's, the press, voters and donators on your side. This is of course the difficulty.

I believe effective gambling regulation that is fair for all and free of crime is possible, but extremely hard to implement properly and it's difficult to have a common sense discussion about it that properly takes everything into account. There is so much corruption and money involved that we face a real uphill struggle.

Both of the major UK political parties have swung in all directions on gambling in recent history. Politards who blindly believe their chosen party would do what they want are quite probably wrong. Nevertheless political campaiging is sadly the best route.
