I remember from my own NL100/NL200 FR days back then that the majority of the guys who made a relatively variance-free $10k+/month (including rakeback) played in the neighborhood of 9/7. There was even that one guy who got his >$100k rakeback/year for playing break-even with 6/5 stats.

That said, I highly doubt Dusty made anywhere close to what some of the old nosebleed guys made and there are also a couple super high roller guys who made decent money. You need to grind a lot of mid/high-stakes to get to a $111k one drop win that you have (close to) 100% of and don’t pay taxes for.
Reminds me of the days grinding full ring against treys full_21. Dusty was Lag compared to Mercier back in those days.

I felt like a LAG in those 100 and 200 fr games playing 14/12 compared to him and vinivici . Both of those guys were and are much better than me tho

A while back I found an old laptop with my poker database and looked over stats/results. IIRC, in 2008/09 jrockhaf and I were the only ones who (successfully) played higher volume NL100 with a VPIP of 15? And he did it while playing 24 tables for I don’t know how many hours a day while I usually maxed out at 16 tables, rarely played sessions longer than 4 hours and usually was done for the month by the 20th. Always wondered if I should have switched to 24 tables of 9/7 total autopiloting. And my biggest poker regret is obviously that I probably could have played at least 2-3 the volume I did with the same winrate while still living a pretty relaxed life.

I even read “treat your poker like a business” and always made those resolutions that I never kept. Dusty’s work ethic was always super impressive. But I think I had to put him on ignore on Facebook a couple month after he friended me because he always posted weird and sometimes borderline disturbing stuff including things about the mom of his kids?

big respect for leatherass! def a hero, impressive work ethic etc.

i think, most has been said, but it needs to be added that he is the guy who invented the "Isolate a limper move"

people back then were folding 60%+ to cbets oftentimes, so half of dustys wr was probably making it 5x after a limper and taking it down later IP

the doc he's heavily featured in is included free with amazon prime, fwiw. I hadn't seen it yet, so I watched it last night. It was pretty good. Also, if you watch the doc, you'd be positive the OP quote is a joke; he doesn't take himself that seriously.

true story, i didnt isolate limpers on the button with AQo due to reverse implied odds. to be fair doyle says he always folded AQ in his book. people were so so bad even up til about BF. playing live helped my game a lot in this regard.

have heard through grapevine that leatherass is completely unhinged on facebook (and probably in general). sad trump has emboldened bombastic stupidity, but "it is what it is"

I have to believe that the OP is an actual quote he made because I can't imagine why anyone would ever make it up lol.

I don't think Jrock ever 24 tabled, I think it was somewhere between 8-16 which helped him start tables and play a bunch of short-handed.

Jrock indirectly created a term that I still use to this day called Jrocking. It's where you stay at a certain limit of poker or something you are doing in life and crush it for some super sick winrate instead of trying to keep moving up. The most consistent winning point of the last 5 years for me was when I Jrock'd it for 14 months at midstakes and anytime I thought about playing higher, I would think about Jrock playing the same stakes for like 50 years with a 10bb/100 winrate and owning all sorts of property in Canada. Finally, I gave in to the urge and lost 200k pretty quickly lol

15/9 was loose AF at FR back then!!

I think it took me two years to realize that guys like Vinivici & others with below 10pfr weren't stacking off worse than QQ (JJ occasionally to me) before I adjusted.

I never played 5/10 regularly online, which is where I presume Dusty spent most of his volume.
I heard a rumour that he claims to have won almost $20m. I'm unsure of what his total volume is but I'd really like to see his overall graph. I think this is a worthy achievement and why not post a trophy(graph).

haha, I played him years ago on Blackchippoker where he was "iamlarrydavid"

We played heads up many times at 10/20, he was really truly awful and I crushed him quite soundly. He told me in the chat that I was the luckiest person he'd ever played after 1 billion hands of poker. Good times.

you guys who stuck to fullring in 2008/2009 missed all of the action, there were whales all day everyday at HU up to 10/20, 25/50 was a bit more dry, it wasn't even hard to run at 20bbs/100 and you had plenty of action

fwiw I beat Dusty for considerably more than 20bb/100 if I'm remembering right

He played 26/19 iirc over a big sample in my ACR db a few years ago. Guy seems like a total tool in all aspects of real life but I guess you gotta respect his work ethic and that he just stuck with a tight solid game for years and always profited (I assume). He seems really jealous on his Twitter of ppl who have passed him by skill-wise. He used to always sit out vs me and other better regs HU but was always grinding and would sit in pretty much any 6m lineup. Would get crushed at 500 zoom now I imagine

Poor guy used to repeatedly brag that he would play multiple tables against the best Pros in the world. And then I would search him on PokerStars and see him 10 tabling 2/4&3/6

At the bottom of his post he wrote something to the effect that he was trying to sound like Tump and then he put a yellow round face.

Someone has to be the biggest. From what I have seen on television it seems Todd Brunson and Scott Seiver are rather big as well.

TBH, leatherass made a **** ton playing on Stars. Biggest nit in the world, but always got paid off. I honestly don't doubt his claim, he was a massive winner when he played online. I'm assuming he has transitioned to live and is doing better.

I know Dusty was an online/sponsored pro for Americas Cardroom a few years back, but I guess that ceased to exist at some point.

He still plays online and is one of the weaker regs at every table he sits.
