Amazing! Signed up after all these years -- just to thank you for this post/thread!

What memories! Forget about the matches for a minute, cos to me it seems like just yesterday when Ivey was introducing himself with his real name for the first time to the Vegas poker room managers who'd gotten to know him, to let them know it was his 21st birthday and he was legal for real now. So it blew me away reading him saying he wouldn't play multiple tables cos he was old, lol!!

Same as many of y'all I railed a bunch of these too. One I missed though was Hastings - Isildur1. And in a way I'm kind of glad I did.
I'm fairly certain all of us have had sessions where regardless what we're able to build in a hand the other person manages to out-catch us. Over and over and over again. It's one's worst poker nightmare coming true right in front of one's eyes in real time.

For a player at my pay grade, a $400 hand hit stings.
Four large into a hand? Wouldn't know, since it'd require my car title being on the table as well.
Four million in a sitting?? Nearly incomprehensible!
It's pretty hard to envision one person dropping that amount, especially when taking into consideration that to date there's only been ten 1st place tournament payouts in excess of $4M.

Thanks again for posting this.

thank you for this thread guys. i remember being a .1/.2 grinder and railing his sick run at ftp and being absolutely blown away. isildur inspired me to get good at poker and move from micro stakes to mid-highstakes. this guy is an absolute legend in the poker community and he will never be forgotten. he is truly the sickest poker player that has ever lived (imo).

Who would have guessed that three and a half years later we would look back at this as the pinnacle of [online] poker? Maybe in a decade or two, depending on how long the recessions in both the poker economy and the real economy last, we'll see this kind of action again.

I have visions of Durrrr and Isildur playing 1k-2k PLO around 2020 or so in what will be the greatest rematch of all time...

Just read all this thread, I was still rooting for Viktor when he was winning, and dreaded the post where I was to be reminded of how he got cheated out of his millions.

I think, that after the Superuser scandals of AP and UB, and some of the other events involving people installing trojans to see other's hole cards, or people using photographers to zoom in on live hole card peeks and give the info to friends at the table.....
that using the word "Cheated" is far too harsh a word for what happened to VB, which amounted to no more than Sharing hand histories and discussing strategy...
Brian T. & Brian H. tied to find leaks in VB's game, but if you look at the Hand Histories ITT, you see that PLO & NLHE are high variance games HU, and sometimes players have huge Up and DOWN swings.
But that's a topic for another thread
