Obviously people looked up to dean because he was a 2+2 poster who climbed from the micros to the highest stakes, giving fellow 2+2'ers hope that they could do the same.
Then it turned out that dean was actually a moran, incapable of understanding GTO, game theory, math, or really the fundamental basis of poker strategy. The fact that dean could beat the highest stakes without understanding these concepts made him even more of a hero to 2+2 since most on here also think GTO and game theory are just nerd words and applauded dean for standing up to the nerds and their fancy talk.
Finally it was revealed that dean was just a lowlife scammer who luckboxed his way into playing games with Guy, and the hopes and dreams of 2+2 were dashed, leading to the anti-dean vitriol you see on here now.
