Durrr and OMg should host and fund a 2 mill Freeroll tourney in Vegas

All the talk about how they should pay people back and such seems like it won't happen. Due to reasons of how could they actually send all the money to people. If they want to donate cash back into the poker community I feel a giant 2 million dollar freeroll in Vegas would be a great and easy way to go about giving cash back to the people who lost alot. I know this won't refund everyone their balances but it would be a great way to show they actually care and not all talk. Durrr and OMG seem like top noch people in the poker world. I feel they will live up to their word if they knew a good way to go about it. Host a freeroll! "THEY WILL COME"

This isnt a bad idea actually but seems tough for a lot of people to manage the expenses of the trip. I like this idea because it beats a lottery of some kind or people getting 1 cent on the dollar that is owed and near impossible to show account balances.

how about the amount of $ u have on tilt = the amount of your starting stack at the tournament.

Come to australia with it. Star city or Crown would be great places to host it!

problem: how do people prove they played on FTP? a bunch of randos can just enter...
Real talks if i were them, and FTP went under. phil and tom should put money together. assume 2M and get a bank loan. ask for like 10% leverage or however that **** works. buy ftp software for 20Mm make new site, take a few years to pay back the loan
[x] profit.
[x] want royalties if works 7%

The owners of FTP should dish out of their pockets all together, ppl r giving way to much importance to wut dwan and omg said ... I really could give a rats asss if dwan does or does not pay up
Would much rather see Ivey give back the 40M he stole us, that would make a real dent , n also jesus, bitar, HL etc... If not I hope they get wut they deserve

Its not a bad idea but its a logistical nightmare obv
theres no 'easy way' for them to return the money, so this could be the better of two evils
1 big flip fest, with a real flat playout structure where first bustout gets to cash
EDIT: It could also entice other FTP people to throw some money into the prizepool. Say if someone like Benyamine felt real guilty he could organise 100k to be added into the prize pool
(Benyamine was a joke obv, but who knows, someone might want to help out with money to burn, Ivey maybe? Id say there could be some people out there who benefitted from FT who feel guilty, but havent put their hands up because of the hard work it would involve. This would make it real easy for them to sleep easy again)

No way they are giving away free money. What incentive do they have? Their attitude has always been "**** you," except for a few hollow words.

People making these suggestions on how Durr should pay the money need to research the Madoff scandal. If the DOJ proves their case (seems likely), they will not only go after the owners, but also those who benefited from the misuse of funds.
If that happens, the DOJ could be knocking on Durr's door with papers in hand, asking for x amount of money. THIS is what he needs to keep the sum he was paid by FTP for.
Even if DOJ doesn't come after him, if and when they ever start paying out and Durr wants to give back, he can contact DOJ and add his money to their disbursement pool back to the players.

I think that this is a wonderful idea. Having a lottery where the winners get a small percentage back is pittance on top of pittance.
For the record, I don't feel that Tom and Phil Galfond owe anyone anything, as they both seem like upstanding guys who just got hoodwinked by the FTP brass. That said, a $2 million freeroll would really give some excitement to the poker community, and would be a gesture that would shed a positive light on poker players looking out for other poker players in a time that we desperately need it.
The media attention and goodwill that such a tournament could create alone is worth more than the drop in the bucket that could be provided by these two otherwise.

You could simply track players' action via the online tracking sites (be it cash games or tournaments) to determine who was active prior to BF and is thus eligible for the freeroll tournament.
Giving 10% of drawn players 10% of their rolls is a great gesture by an unbelievably well-intentioned Tom Dwan, but truly does nothing in terms of satisfying anyone substantially or adding much good press to the poker community. A large freeroll tournament as suggested in the OP would (and perhaps other sites and individuals could step in and further add to the prize pool to make it a great time and truly huge event for those who have been so negatively impacted).

durrrr should just purchase a 300 Million life insurance policy (million deductable) on Bitar, lederer, and Ferguson.

I hope that those dismissing the idea due to the misspellings or the idea not being presented well will at least read my last two posts, fwiw.

I know many people lost a lot more than me but why should Durrr pay u or me anything? I know Durrr only from 2p2 and TV and I truly believe he's a good guy. Would he like to rewind time and go forward differently? Ya sure. But F Me, he's not some ring leader trying to screw the world.
He played some awesome poker and got a good deal, when the **** hit the fan he thought everything would come to light, it did just not when he hoped.
Damn you all who are putting this on him.

This is a great idea, and while Tom is at it he can pay for flights and accommodation for non-US citizens to get to Vegas.

This is a terrible idea for obvious reasons...lock this thread.
Paying x% of the accounts 10c/$ like Durr said is a million times better.

I'm a cash game player. Will this "plan" allow me to take my "entry fee" and play in the sweet side games that will be all over the Strip?

Yeah not that great a deal for online cashgame players who live say, err, not near Vegas. But go for it, suggesting it. Poker players by nature will be looking for an edge I guess.
