Wow. The end of an era. This makes me nostalgic and sad.

I always imagined I’d play with him in Bobby’s Room one day.

The poker icon of all time...

With 28 players left, Doyle is the chip leader and Todd is second in chips. What a story that would be if they kept it up.

Anyone who isn’t rooting for him to make the FT so his final cards can be seen on stream is an enemy of poker.

Go Doyle!

2/19 in chips as of this post. I'm not a huge Doyle fan nor am I a Doyle hater like more than a few 2+2ers, but I would greatly enjoy seeing him ship one. Like Ted Williams homering in his last at-bat.

What's with all the cheating posts? I couldn't find much, other than some former cheater Russ Georgiev accusing him. Then I found this: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!to...cxDk%5B1-25%5D where Doyle offered 5-1 on taking a lie detector that he didn't cheat and I don't think the bet was taken. I'm going to assume he didn't cheat and he's just one of the GOATs, unless someone gives me some better evidence.

Doyle would easily be on the Mount Rushmore of Poker, if there was one.

Younger players may not even realize how Doyle helped pave the way for them, as a founding player in the first WSOP in 1970, two time Main Event Champ (yes fields were way smaller then), and overall ambassador for the game for over 5 decades!

Wish him and family well.

I'm curious about his reasons behind it. I'm sure just sitting for an hour can be a pain at that age, I still think I'd sit for a few minutes here and there just to play and keep that game sharp.

Him and Barry had the best books tho.
