Isil is a fish at NLHE since he doesn't play it often and has no desire (seemingly) to put the amount of effort needed compete with the top players. It's very easy to understand: Isil seems like a nice guy and he has provided a lot of memorable moments in NLHE but he's a whale these days.

I think Rider is only saying what others are thinking (at least those people who know what they're talking about) and that might annoy some NVGTards but it's interesting to hear, imo. Credit to him for getting where he is from his humble days at 1c/2c.

So because he doesn't play it often he's a fish?

hes probably quite far down the chain of 25/50+ regs these days yea, which makes total sence given he basically doesnt play it anymore and never really cared for studying much afaik.

Yes but oh wait look at all these : "insert xxx" accounts on euro sites.. HE PLAYED 200-400..

then you look at those accounts he's down a milly on each.

yet they keep refering you to those euro accounts.

It's like all those regs at MSNL calling X regs really good and hard to play. Then when PTR came you realized that most of these "really good reg" are actually making 10$ an hour because all they do is bet bet shove and play annoyingly. Barely win. just annoy and play a lot.

I dont think isil is awful but he's def not great and the regs that he "owns" would probably own him back at stakes they wouldnt mind having a shove every 2 hands. He's still better than most non crushing 3/6-5/10 non bumhunting regs but no where near world class.

That still makes him an uber fish to guys like rider and jungle

cant ppl just get that his tilt / approach to the game is a big part of his game

there are worlds between bloms A game and B, C game.... he does not have to care 100% like others who have to because they are not sponsored, in formats in which blom has to really challenge himself (f.e. super star challenges) its a complete different picture - he then forces himself to his A game! f.e. he beat Ike Haxton quite impressingly in that 500K challenge, didnt he also beat jungleman in the super star showdown - and thats not longer than maybe 15 months ago?!! the others cant have gotten so much better, or he cant have gooten so much worse - that there are WORLDs between them now,

i am sure in a format in which he feels really challenged he will be very close to the current top5 players.. and cant ppl realize that he lost 2.4 million in NLH just last month - and now suddenly he is a super fish thats not correct imo

Isil can get unlimited action from the top HUNL players. That's how we know he's a fish in those games. The people who are waiting for a chance to play him (like wcg) are slightly better qualified to judge his abilities than fanboys who worship him for being such a degen. Don't take it personally. Lots of top players like Galfond would also be huge fish playing HUNL these days against people like wcg, ike, jungle, etc.

yes i agree with this, and hes certainly an underdog in most of these games - nevertheless if he had to he would beat them all :-) if you give him some time for preparation, his overall talent is just bigger - but you are correct under the given circumstances he is the underdog thats correct

+1. WCG, Jungle, Kanu, are chomping-at-the-bit to play Isil.

I like Isil, however 'talent' as a concept is hugely overrated; he would not beat WCG, Jungle etc. If all the top players stopped studying/playing and Isil started studying/playing, I'm sure he would do well (it's obviously a smart guy), obviously that will never happen.

To be fair, Isildur's career history is littered with good players thinking he's a fish and then losing their money to him. I'm not saying WCG etc. are wrong, just that others have been wrong.

It's amazing how well the average nvg reg knows about isil's game despite playing like literally a thousand times lower stakes.

I'll take 100:1 against myself on any bets up to $500, so your $500 to win $50000
