Who are you guys to say how confident he should sound. The weirdest thing about railbirds is that they think theyre in a position to decide what poker players who play stakes exponentially higher than them should do.

But hey one time you backraised ak in your home .5/1 game, so I guess you're the same as Ivey.

This is why you don't go anywhere in poker, you think you've made it.

Ironically, I often find people that call others 'tools' and 'douches' are actually the tools and douches themselves.

Doug is awesome, btw.

Sooo....What are the chances Sauce tries to deviate from his Limp/3X strategy? ide give it somewhere between .1-10%. Im guessing the whole reason to take this challenge is to try that strategy out.

Like Jungleman said, I don't think it's better than what they can come up with to counter it. But we will see, only time will tell. It certainly feels like WCG has a pretty good handle on Sauces overall strategy.

here's what i think people are missing, who the f cares if WCG is that good? it's still an annoying personality trait to be that full of one's self. there are plenty of people in this world who have contributed much more meaningful things, and accomplished much harder feats than playing high stakes poker, yet have remained humble as pie. i would be more willing to forgive that character trait had he achieved something in which he was not the sole benefactor. I.e. curing a disease or coming up with an innovative solution environmental problems.

as far as marketability, I think it's good strategy. poker needs a good villain, so it may work. but as an overall personality trait, the internet machismo is, for legitimate reasons, annoying to some.

He's where he's at because he's put in more hands than literally 99.9% of the community, and deserves every bit of success he's achieved. Y'all just wasting your breath.
+2 Rider has given a lot to the community and asked for nothing in return.

He seems like a good guy from his interviews imo - especially considering his position, most twenty-somethings would be infinitely more full of themselves.

i personally dont have any issue with how big his ego/confidence is. if i was raping those stakes mine would be just as big.

but to say he doesnt have a huge ego / over confidence in the world is simply bs.

He is very outspoken on being the best in the world. He has clearly stated players that are beneath him. His chat in play is often reflective of this.

He may be a nice guy. He may have helped contribute yada yada yada... but today he is extremely cocky. He even put his money where is mouth is and battled a true boss HU that he says/believes he has an edge on.

That cocky overconfident mofo gets my respect. :P

Spoiler:
I have no details of his ability to douche

probably because that's the most likely reason for the hate. he hasn't really showed anything that could be described as arrogant. "a bit overconfident" is all that he is

Who the f cares about his "ego". Let me let you guys in on a little secret. Almost every1 at the top of their respective fields have some sort of "big ego".

You guys dont know him personally and nothing he does affects 99.9% of you. So you honestly shouldn't care about his "ego", unless it hurts you in some way. He certinaly hasn't crossed the line in anyway WRT that.

yep, it's the most likely reason but to be honest those "haters gonna hate" lines are just silly and in the end pure speculation,...but they get ppl to comment on
whatever, so in reverse it would basically mean that you have to like somebody who has lots of money/success, just not to be seen as a jelly hater, without taking into condideration which kind of person she/he is? - but that is the main topic we are talking about in the last couple of posts - his personality...and everyone is entitled to his own opinion. if you have seen some chat logs by him (wihtout knowing how successfull he is in life) you might think "wow what a douche" but if you know how much monies he has you're suspected to be jelly. again, yes it's most likely but you still don't if true. pure speculation and pretty much irrelevant.

just for the record, the rider has grown on me like i stated in the podcast thread. first he came off really arrogant in those mentioned chats but the interview has changed my impression of him.

but it's nvG and there is a fine line between self-confidence and arrogance where the rider seems to be on the wrong side for some ppl ittt. but to really judge somebody you need to get to know her/him in person ldo.

Who cares.

What I wanna know is why did he just call with the AAA when Sauce re-raised that river? Did he really fear a str8? For sure it was within Sauces range but surely you gotta jam that river 100% of the time when you are re-raised in that spot. It wasn't as if it was bubble in a tourney.

Being confident and being a douchey a-hole are two completely different things. The best players dont have to be arrogant. It's kind of like a king who has to say "I'm the king!" is no true king.

And the fact he plays exponentially higher than a random grinder means dick. Arrogant a-hole is an arrogant a-hole no matter how high they play.

Exactly. Its pretty much a sport, depending on your definition. It is good that some players give it a bit of banter. It also makes it more entertaining when their fortunes/ superiority of skill changes and have to start dodging challenges they were very confident about at the start in an increasingly humiliating fashion.

HU poker is boring anyways especially between 2 winning players....it comes down to who avoids hitting 2nd best hands which is basically a matter of hand distributions and variance.

i'd bet if these guys played 100k+ hands the only winner would be the HOUSE
