Just my 2 cents, which are probably worth about .350 cents.
I enjoyed Polkernews, thought it was good content. But there were several things that I felt made it hard to reproduce with high quality.
First off, on slow weeks viewership just got crushed. Not that I think that will be totally avoided here with table talk, but having 2 people discuss opinions certainly makes it at least a bit better.
Second, if you look at the popularity of what I was putting out, Polkernews simply did not put up the kinds of numbers that more poker related videos did. Not only did it put up worse numbers by a large margin, the episodes had very low shelf life, so after 2-3 days they would accumulate almost zero views.
By contrast, Poker Hands still gets views on almost every episode for months. It also gets way more interest out of the gate, and the casual audience enjoys it way more. Add to this that polkernews probably took ~3x as long to make, and often we had to get pretty creative that took a lot of time, and it just seemed to not be worth it anymore.
I will say though, I want to make sure to always play some role of news in the world of poker. Thats one of the big reasons why I ended up deciding to do this show with Joey. I think its an important thing. So in conclusion, I might still from time to time put out a special edition of polkernews where I have some good ideas and there are a lot of topics out there to discuss, but I am going to give Table Talk a fair chance.

Does anyone know the name of this youtube channel? Did Doug abandon the idea?
I have only put out a couple videos, I am trying to focus on the poker channel more than this channel at the moment. I will still put out an occasional video on that channel when I want to, I just wanted somewhere I could put non poker related stuff if I had a good idea.

I think that the youtube audience for poker is expanding. By putting out good content, you not only bring new people in, you more successfully keep people that are already watching your content.
There are many people that worked in spaces with the size of poker that have accumulated 300-500k subs, so I think there is space here for me to one day be in that range as well. If you look at pokerstars for example, they have almost 260k subs.
Unlike with many platforms, companies tend to underperform on youtube compared to personalities. Look at the top 100 youtube channels, there are not many companies at all. So Pokerstars having 260k subs tells me there is room for an individual who puts out good content to one day have at least that, if not more.
Also, I have been putting content out almost daily for 5 months. That will very much help you build an audience. I hope this continues as I very much love the work that I am currently doing and this is some of the most fun I have had in a long time.
