anyone else think the homeo vid was fail? the same arguments/jokes he used could be applied to the mainstream medical industry which undermines the humour... first vid i've disliked.

Same. Can't recall the last time I disliked a Doug video, but that one really missed the mark. Needed more narrative cohesion. Tbh it was a little bit, but even The Beatles/Elvis recorded some duds and Pelé occasionally blasted the ball 20 feet over the crossbar.

As I Tweeted to Doug, the medical field isn't perhaps the best/easiest field to satirise.

I also agree with you that applying some poker/crypto previous funny references (DNegs, Tai Lopez etc) didn't really work, and would not make sense to any new audience not previously exposed to Doug's Crypto/Poker channels.

IMO it's gonna be tough for Doug to successfully satirise other topics as well as he has done for Poker and Crypto, but time will tell.

Crypto..... the natural progression in satire for Doug I think would be other investment related products, so stocks, forex, options, mergers and acquisitions etc. There is plenty of scandal and lol stuff in that field involving companies, governments, investment scams, rags to riches stories, hero to zero stories, ponzi schemes, etc etc.

Ever since Jon Stewart went off the air political satire has been dead. His replacement Trevor Noah has a very different delivery/sense of humor that at best I just don't find entertaining and at worst is cringeworthy (and not in a good way like the office). John Oliver isn't funny and the harder he tries the less funny he is. And don't even get me started on how bad Colbert is. /rant

Yeah, it was not the best video. I could not put my finger on it. But now I realize there is just not much humor in people being sick and possibly dying due to improper medical treatment. Actually, this makes me wonder why I did not immediately have this reaction.

That is what is hard about activist satire humor, such as John Oliver. I liked Oliver much more before Trump than after. I think politics is kind of a dead horse, even when one particular politician seems to offer daily fodder for comedy.

It has to be funny first, satire second, and activist-motivational last, imo.

You don't think andy ever has kings or aces himself? it's probably too thin with kings but not by much and against your call range it would both get worse hands to call and the same hand to sometimes fold.

can't imagine 9x and diamonds combined are even 10% of gary's range going into the river.... it's probably almost all TT+ with a very slightly lowered probability for tens and jacks. there's no way kings no diamond is sometimes a fold. it's questionable whether kings with a diamond is fractional.

Cyber bullying video was also a bit of a miss for me. Trying too address to many angles just leaves a muddled video without a clear message. I think just focusing the piece on why it is not cyber bullying to make fun of people with a platform who may be engaged in activities harmful to their fans and audiences would have been better. The first half of the video spent talking about how to effectively respond or not respond to legit cyber bullying should have been cut or put in a separate video. Cutting it out would have left more room for DNegs and other jokes that would have made the video funnier and more narratively cohesive.

As a live pro, I can see how Doug could come to the decision he came to. Even though I win nearly every time I play, walking out of the casino with a solid buy in or two more than I arrived with, every now and then you run into donkeys who refuse to fold bottom pair and call you down only to suck out on the river with some crap hand. Sure you will get that money back later due to their horrible play, but the swings can still be super stressful. If I could sit back with a hottie and make bank without the aggravation and waiting for donkeys out in the parking lot to get my money back, I would too.
