Doug needs to get in some sort of Internet fight with Mason just to keep thread interesting.

With a vanity plate that reads ‘FKDPROS’ beneath a billboard that says ‘Moar rake is better’ outside a tournament that donates a portion of the buy-in to benefit homeless free range livestock.

Given the money I assume he has even a well diversified portfolio would give him plenty of money to live well off of assuming his spending habits aren't degenerate. He also may not keep playing at the high level he's at but I wouldn't be surprised if he plays some live cash from time to time and pulls in some pretty decent extra income. The numbers he provided for Upswing with that whole drama situation were actually surprisingly high. The other guy's cut for his course was several hundred thousand over the course of (I think?) less than a year. Doug also probably makes good YouTube money. I think he'll be fine if he doesn't burn money, which to be fair is a big if in the poker community. 2 Million in market investments with a slightly better than indexing return rate can provide 100k/year though you'll have to deal with inflation which is a killer. You would also want to offset that with some bonds to sell during a market collapse but I do think Doug has at least 2m.

Crypto is a meme though. Currency meant to act as a middle man to anonymously do online transactions, primarily illicit ones such as drug deals, that is extremely inflated due to speculation. It seems like its entire value is just speculation and has literally no real world applications aside from illicit transactions. I can't wait for it to crash so I can buy a new ****ing graphics card at a reasonably price. **** miners.

His revenue might be close to or smaller than expenses. Youtube ad revenue got slashed by a lot for many people so I wouldn't be surprised if his crypto and "normal?" channel is losing money due to editing etc. He gets to push products like his own coaching site to a big audience though so he does make money in the end, just not from the Youtube revenue. It's a big advantage to have customer acquisition cost this low.

Do you have any idea how much he pays for his editing? I doubt he's breakeven with 2 channels averaging 75-125k views per video, though I also doubt he's making a killing on it. His videos don't seem too heavy on editing aside from intros. That being said he doesn't exactly pump out videos at a high volume. Combined with investments both passive and active I think it's probably enough to at least include in his income. Like I said though assuming he has decent holdings in traditional markets along with his ventures like Upswing he's probably doing pretty well. It all depends how weighted towards crypto he is, but he did talk about having regular investments in one of his streams.

I wonder if he'll consider writing a book. Books don't make much money but he might be able to break down some concepts and again use it as an advertising tool for Upswing. I think a book breaking down GTO concepts would be easier to digest in book format than videos while videos I think are far better for basic concepts application. Plus a GTO book might be more applicable long term than most books which become outdated rapidly, though they're so so easy to pirate.

Re: Doug Polk's Youtube Videos Thread

He accidentally announced his net worth figure as being ~$8M in a Tweet he made a few months ago about his $ swing on the day due to a Bitcoin move. He also stated at some point that he either had 50% of his net worth in Crypto, or was advising others to have 50% invested.

So absolute worse case scenario is he's lost ~75% * $4M meaning his net worth is $5M, plus all of his ongoing revenue streams.

I think he'll survive!

(More likely he lost ~50% on $3M of Crypto meaning his net worth now is $6.5M)

old vid, watch the first 4 mins, or 2-4

why are you giving out hold recommendations for btc when you don't have a clue? "hey guys, let's have a look at the past to predict the future" #facepalm

Why are you making dumb posts when at 5min he says "I am not a financial expert"?

Re: Doug Polk's Youtube Videos Thread

wouldn't it be reasonable to not give out specific investment advice to a youtube audience when you aren't a financial expert? #obv

i guess you don't understand how fishy the advice and the argument behind it is, probably like a large part of his audience on that channel.

Get off your high horse. He also said it is entertainment and I don't think there is any doubt in this video that you need to take it lightly. There is no push to actually place any bets and he fully discloses which coins he has.

Don't take yourself so seriously.

Re: Doug Polk's Youtube Videos Thread

there's a specific investment recommendation in there, along with a reasoning. i'm sorry that you are unable to see why this is problematic.

stay on topic and don't get personal mahman, "Don't take yourself so seriously." usually comes from ppl sitting on dat high horse

Do you think people who aren't financial experts can't discuss investments? It's clearly a hobby of his and he's discussing why he thinks something is a good investment, and he's up front that he's not a qualified professional or anything.

He's not misleading people and he's enjoying a hobby. What a bizarre thing to be getting upset about.

He is such a great kid, wish Doug only the best! He has a exceptional personality and he is not a sell out. Have an idea for him. He promotes a lot and he can promote fitness. He is the pro who always stands in his videos. Sitting all day is hazardous to the health. He leads by example already. https://health.howstuffworks.com/hum...your-body2.htm

He is a great guy and we all are rooting for him!!!

Re: Doug Polk's Youtube Videos Thread

I’ve always wondered if Doug getting shut out at the poker awards earlier this year played a factor in him retiring. He just seems so sad in this video, and I believe it was the day after the awards https://youtu.be/Z9JphseZpFY

Interesting information, thanks for posting this.

I wonder what motivates him to stick with Upswing Poker? Financially, he's set for life if he's worth $8million or even $5million. Online poker is a declining market, so it makes little sense to invest in creating poker training products unless you have a deep burning passion for it.

Perhaps he just wants something to do with his time and to stay in the limelight.

Poker training products will generally become outdated whether the game declines or not so it only really matters if it's profitable now.
