From what Ive seen, a lot of people were disappointed that the One Drop didnt get that many rich businessmen. I know Doug said at one point that he was considering playing SHRB and not the One Drop because of the rake. Could Doug have something coming out this week highlighting that maybe not as many people (specifically whales) played the One Drop because of the high rake?

I thought the rake went to the charity? Is the prize pool awarded reduced by charity AND rake? Yeah, business people get rich by not making those types of bad money decisions...

It appears 8% of each buy-in ($80,000) goes to One Drop, while $920,000 goes to the prize pool. I think it's easy to say that for a billionaire, that's nothing to them and wouldnt keep anybody from playing. But I dont know. It's hard for me to even consider what I would think. I think it could be reasonable for one of those guys who plays in a lot of High Rollers to decide to separate poker from their giving, deciding not to play One Drop but still being extremely charitable.

Like I said, Im 99% sure I saw Doug tweet months ago that he was playing SHRB and not One Drop because SHRB had no rake at all. Not sure if that was the only reason or not.

It would have been fun sweating Doug and Ivey playing together in the One Drop. Happy Ivey has a sizable amount of chips going into day 2 Guys, he is giving away part of his action to 10 lucky US citizens. http://virtue.poker

Go Phil!!!

Doug is a lot smarter than the average bear, hence his good decision to not play in what's turned out to be an end boss pro heavy, small field.

With the rake, I assume that if this wasn't a charity related event that the rake would be nowhere near 8% as rake/commission/brokerage fees, call it what you will, scale down the higher the ticket price is, (and actual running costs for a live comp do not rise linearly with the size of the buy in)

Ship brokers earn <0.25%, real estate agents ~1.5%, hotel booking agents ~10% etc

If the eighty grand is for charity, then the absence of recs is because too many regs. Hence, as Tuma pointed out, need to double that to 160 grand so the pros are all “meh” and the whales are all “sweet”.

In the one drop it is permitted to needle opponents:

If you are playing it and someone pays off your massive river value bet with their bottom pair, you are allowed to say "thank you for the donation......... (pause).......... to charity".

Streaming video games is child's play versus poker. Considering Doug can't finish the bankroll challenge (which I predicted before it started) I can't blame him.

Poker is stressful enough as it is and then you take it up a notch and stream it while trying to maintain your cool and play winning poker. It's a recipe for disaster. There are only a minute few who actually succeed in this journey.

Huge props to Lex for absolutely dominating the Twitch Poker streaming base. Doug tried and quickly found out it was more than he bargained for. He likely did it to promote Upswing and then moved on to other interests i.e crypto, putting up billboards to slag a poker HoF.

Peeked Doug's stream today on Twitch just to take a looksie. He seems happy just doing his thing and playing Warcraft. Safe to say he's retired cause he sounds like a man who's over poker. Probably the best if you're struggling to beat NL25 microstakes.

lol I mean if you want to be results oriented about it, he did win 7-figures in his short time there. Is $455k still the record?
