1. Welcome to capitalism.

2. Belief in sanctity of the press should end with belief in Santa Claus

A bit boring this ep. But you can't really help what's in the news. Unless you're Sheldon Adelson.

the question is, with whom he shook hands and if this person was 'allowed' to make a contract (besides all the copyright questions)

These vids are a streak of gold in an industry thats turned to ****, brilliant. Both funny and truthful. Pointing out Poker is not a "game of skill" but a mixture of both gambling and skill was great, a fact many dumb regs (and the resulting legal arguments) have failed to understand over the years.

Doug says that flatting pay-out structures is bad for mtts (which is irrelevant in this post) and that games should more pro-friendly. After that he tells us that ko poker, spins and zoom are bad for the pros and that good players should win in the long run and be able to make a living. That does not make much sense since in all those game types pros will reach long runs gazillion times faster than in live donkaments and wont have losing stretches that last for months/years. If the rake were a bit smaller then all those games would be way better for pros than live donkaments. Dont bash the game type, bash the ****ing rake.

An agreement typically does not have to be in writing to be a binding contract; look up texas v. penzoil for a good example of that.

As for media outlets being owned by people who want to control their own image, it's been that way for a loooooong time.

-- All media has a bias and an agenda. The New York Times is owned by a billionaire from Mexico and that fact is reflected in their reporting on the border/immigration issue this past year. As always, if the bias is so off-putting, the public responds by not consuming that media and ratings or readership declines as is happening now with CNN and the Times. The LVRJ will be no different.

-- I actually like the pay-out changes noted. Most recs view a live tourney (or at least I do) as a chance to win but also the "buying" of some hours of "poker entertainment." The more of them that win their buy-in back the more of them have money to enter the next time. Nothing wrong with tournies structuring themselves to benefit those putting on those same tournies and to ensure their continued viability, even at the expense of "pros."

-- An oral contract is not worth the paper it is written on. If you want to be a professional, start acting like a professional and start putting any transactions/bets/agreements that are five-figures or higher in writing.

Yep I'm all for less top heavy payout structures as well. Helps keeps more money in the player pool.

Comparing it to zoom and spins is a pretty big flaw because the money there is going to the rake, while in the tournament example the money still stays with the players.

Doug... maybe consider loosing the shutter backdrop to your videos. it was OK for the pilot episode but time to move on.

it cheeses down the overall look and feel of what you are trying to do..

and I cant seem to pay attention to what you are saying because I just sit there and wonder if I were to open that shutter what would I see?

I tried adding a green screen but I couldn't get the lighting correct for it to work. Going to continue to try and fix this.

Also remember I am just one dude at his house, I will try to make it as professional as possible. If it comes down to having to use a normal background or not get the episode out, I am taking the content every time.

It is a good suggestion though and I am going to keep trying to fix it. (Could take awhile).

LOL

Even Trump himself isn't delusional enough to think that Carlos Slim actualy owns the NY Times.

You, my friend, need to learn the difference between the words investor and owner.

You also might want to take some remedial finance courses and learn to differentiate between classes of stock.

"... take some remedial finance course and learn..." That is so amusing I will let it stand.

I don't own any media companies so I was unaware of the dual class structure of NYT Co. I believe, however, that its largest Class A shareholder would have some say, even beyond the third of the Board not controlled by the family.
