Him having the KT in his hand possibly makes this one of the worst river calls in the history of streamed/televised poker.

My theory is that as much as Matt Berkey claimed on Joey Ingram's podcast to have not been affected by Doug Polk roasting him not once, but twice, in recent videos, that Doug has in fact put him on perma mega monkey tilt.

Berkey doesn't even beat some of Kruk's bluffs, like 9x combos.

Berkey has two massive key blockers to many of Kruk's drawing hands, making it so much more likely that Kruk is betting his value hands here. He has to put him on a specific spade combo draw on the turn to make this call okay and that's very few combos.

On the PAD thread someone said that Kruk gulped or something and this might have encouraged Berkey to read it as a bluff. So much for Matt "Back Yard" Berkey's live reads skills.

Interesting FB post by Nick Howard about Doug's imaginary feud. Spoken like a true poker ambassador:

"Doug Polk
It’s a shame that you use your influence to promote negativity. It’s even more sad that your reputation is sustained by driving fear into members of the community who would otherwise speak out against you if they weren’t so preoccupied with their public image. There are those of us who don’t give a **** about your opinions and, if we cared enough, could publically dismantle your training methodology as the inconsistent marketing hoax that it actually is. Your actions are a disservice to everyone who looks to you as both a leader and a role model. I hope more players find the courage to speak out against what you’re doing, and I truly hope it inspires you to find a way to positively polarize with the influence you have."

Amazing amount of irony here.

Someone who claims not to care about Polk but obviously cares deeply. Complains about negativity and then proceeds to question Polk's integrity basically calling him and his business fraudulent.

Also highlights his own courageousness which is a common trait in sanctimonious moralizers.

Not only that but he goes so far as to invite others that (supposedly) don't care about Doug's opinions to share their opinions on him to get him to change his ways. Kinda sad.

Yeah, it's embarrassing and very transparent.

If it's this guy https://pokerdetox.com/about/ (a rival poker coach) it kinda makes his "testimony" inadmissible.

Anyway, why shouldn't poker like any other field not be subject to satire, scrutiny, hard hitting journalism, and sometimes criticism where appropriate.

If anything, poker needs someone like Doug Polk to speak out and to go to topics and places where others fear to tread.

Also, he is doing a great job promoting the game, and it is a very small price to pay if along the way he rattles one or two people's cages.

Berkey is most certainly not a "dull" player. He takes very unorthodox lines.

What his poker face? Should he be getting smashed like doug every episode and saying dumb ****?

BTW when did doug start doing the Durrr thing? every decision lately he bobs his head up and down like he's autistic.

I'll say that this is pretty weird.

wrt: Berkey, I'm obviously referring to the fact he shows the personality of a paper bag. You don't have to be obnoxious or loud to show personality, and I'd think that's obvious.

The context of the "dull" remark was in response to a tinfoil wrestling feud theory. Playing style is irrelevant. If the goal is to create drama with fake conflict for attention, you probably don't want a dance partner that puts you to sleep by talking and feigns taking the high road while making passive-aggressive digs.

There's like a dozen better candidates that come to mind off the top of my head.

Tuma's wrong. Berkey has had a 3 hour podcast with Joey but the one he did a couple of days ago was 1:30:18.

I watched it and I did genuinely fall asleep after about 30 minutes, but I watched it long enough for Berkey to ridiculously apportion some blame to Doug Polk by claiming that Doug should work on bringing a player with him (a rec/fish) to these big buy in games because it was his responsibility somehow because it was called "Doug Polk week".

What a load of nonsense.

Regarding poker "beef", there are very, very few people I have serious issues with. Most of the dnegs/berkey/torelli stuff is because I don't agree with what they did or said, but I don't have a personal issue with any of them.

There has been no faking drama to get views though. This is world of poker, not the world of reality TV.

Yeah it is the world of poker and your videos are fair and balanced IMO and I'm looking forward to the Poker Hands video that analyses Matt Berkey's call of the the 2x pot bet on the river with KT on PAD against Christopher Kruk.

Board of: AJ39J

He is still in semi-denial about it being a bad play (see his Twitter) despite the fact that one of the spade combos he claims influenced him to call KT he would be chopping with, and another one KQ he is losing to.

posting this for two reasons

#1 Help bring thread back to happier times, when all just looked at videos and learned stuff and sometimes laughed and talked about it.

#2 Video proves and allows me to to publicly state that Matt Glantz is a total freaking nit and should not be allowed to play poker anywhere, at anytime for any reason . Hes just taking up space
