Doug, I was just wondering your thoughts on how one should reconcile your involvement, content creation, promotion, and ownership in Upswing Poker, while simultaneously publicly repeating a disdain and total lack of interest in actually playing poker anymore.

How should a potential Upswing subscriber reconcile this? (and do you think this is just a "cool down" phase you're going through but will be charging back to the felt hard in the future?)

^ Agree Lucid. For his next video whenever he or Joey feels like it. I would like them to discuss Bet Online dot com. They advertise as a legit USA poker site. However, as soon as I deposited my money, my account was locked. WTF??? Don't deposit there guys!!!

why does "one" need to reconcile this? a potential upswing subscriber should weigh up the overall quality of the content on offer and decide whether it is worth it for them to subscribe - same as paying for any service.

i don't get why people get so upset that some guy doesn't want to play poker anymore. he hasn't shown any "disdain" for poker. if it really makes you that upset he's not playing there is nothing compelling you to continue to engage with his content. either here, or on youtube or via upswing. just ignore it and do DN's masterclass

In the time since Doug has stepped away from poker, Upswing has added a bunch of legitimately high quality coaches.

I did watch some non-poker related content from Charlie Carrel but that is just majorly cringe worthy so I like the shots . But you got to respect the guy as a poker player imo.

Honestly Doug, you do such a good job of going to war with these losers, everything you say regarding them is spot on. I don’t know how you have the mental fortitude but it’s so funny and enjoyable to watch

This Charlie Carrel vid feels like it's coming from a really negative and petty place. There is little humor in the criticism, it seems very personal. A lot of people are going to enjoy the spectacle regardless, because they love drama, but to me it's disturbing how Doug who now has 254k subscribers on YT does character assassination for clicks (also not the first time this has happened).

Ya other than the BR challenge I stay away from Doug's stuff cuz it always had that kinda vibe to it. Like a poker TMZ **** talking vibe. Some of it is good cuz it sheds light on things but it's not something you want in your headspace all the time. It will get clicks tho.

Kinda like how news and politics are toxic and yet people are hooked on it like crack.

Kind of weird that it took CC losing a hand to make this video. Roast should have come sooner or not at all IMO.

Oh come on, I didnt even make the title/thumbnail about going after Charlie. I pretended it was another hand analysis (Ive done like 14 of those in the last few weeks btw) and instead just pivoted it into a roast. If I wanted clicks for going after someone I would package it like that, this was for the lols.

My poker content is like 75% hand analysis, 15% news, 5% comedy, and the rest is making fun of idiots. People like to pretend that isnt the case but just look at the data, my channel is by far and away primarily an informational channel to help people get better at poker.

For a roast there's surprisingly little humor, it just seems serious, malicious and far from light-hearted. It's just a list of things intepreted in the least generous, bad faith way. Vid will likely hit 100k views and a lot of people will leave with the impression that this Charlie guy must be a bit of a piece of ****, which I think is absolutely unwarranted. And I say this as someone who finds Charlie obnoxious most of the time and as someone who has been a fan of your channel since its start (I took away a ton of value from your vids, they definitely helped me become a better player). IMO you can do better than this.
