I don't see 5 youtube videos spread over 12-18 months with him saying that he hates doing this and is quitting in every single one of them... so I guess he hasn't given up yet.

Las Vegas' previous mayor was a mob lawyer.

The current mayor is his wife.

Surely a lawyer is greater than poker player. However the lady in there now is a complete noob so if it’s Doug vs her I do like his shot.

If you pay attention to local politics, you'll realize literally anyone can get elected to public office.

Lots of politicians were lawyers.
People are fascinated by the mafia.
The definitely helped him and is way better than being a poker player as far as electability.

I do not think you have much familiarity with Nevada or Las Vegas politics if you draw that conclusion.

Polk has some good qualities but I get the feeling he hasn't had much experience in the real world. You know that world where the boss volunteers you for overtime when your dead tired. That world where your woken up by the alarm every morning instead of sleeping to noon and going to work whenever you feel like it like I would imagine some successful poker players live in. That world where office politics and conflicting personalities are an everyday occurrence... There's a reason that the US founders said you have to be at least 35 yrs. old to be president. There's just some knowledge that can only be learned through time and experience. And it seems that Polk, while intelligent and energetic, just doesn't have that life experience yet to be an effective politician. But who knows, maybe he could be a quick learner as a politician. Only time will tell.

I liked Doug better when he played Poker and made funny videos. Now he's just a dude with a bunch of money, too much free time, and zero direction on where to go and what to do next. Not a bad problem to have at his age, but he's really been reaching lately, and coming off as fairly lame, with a side order of doucheyness to go with it. Waiting for him to fade into bolivian M. Tyson style
