Doug claims to have never used a solver before--does anyone else find this surprising? He's a big proponent of GTO strategy, so it seems odd he would never have used pretty much the best tool for approximating it.

pretty sure doug has a considerable size advantage

he was already pretty much done with poker when solvers became mainstream, he didn’t play gto, he just achieved better balance than most at the time with his approximations

should be 8-game, 500/1k, and 5k of the hands should be played live.

He used another method and mapped the HUNL game tree, figuring out how much of his range needed to bet/raise/call/fold in each spot, then what hands best go into what choice pattern. I think. I recall seeing this in vids.

He def had some kind of solver even before everyone else had it. It wasn't like pio but I would consider it a solver. It's seen in the Kanu videos for upswing. Pretty sure he used this to study while playing eg sauce.

It's not a gto solver like pio, but still tremendously helpful. So saying he never used one is kinda banasas. But also doesn't really matter. He will have huge edge oder dn anyways.....

4 tables of HUNL is a non-starter here. 1 game choice each at 2 tables or maybe 2 tables of 8 game whilst possible, is still hugely unlikely.

Even if Daniel thought there was value in this spot my gut feel is that he would never agree. Imagine what it would do to Daniels image if Polk starts spanking him and he has to endure 25k hands of it while the poker world watches on.

That would far the outweigh the best case scenario of Daniel winning 20 or 30 buyins.

Whilst I'm not exactly a marketing expert, I can imagine some people at GG would be willing to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Daniel to make this happen on their platform. Love or hate either player, it would be a landmark moment in the history of online poker.
