My hot/cold take is that there's
zero chance the DP vs. DN challenge match gets green-lit (as currently proposed) for a regulated U.S. online poker site. For starters, because those high stakes aren't available. But mainly because...

"I take offense when poker media calls this a 'back and forth.' How disingenuous? I have never made a video targeting this man, I have barely referenced him in the last four years, while my name is on his lips constantly. Where is the evidence of a 'forth' in this case?
Maybe this was all part of his long game plan. Attack me endlessly, bully me, mock me, in the hopes of getting me to agree to a high stakes poker match. If that’s the case, well played. You have your wish." -Daniel Negreanu

Simply put, you can't force people to gamble if they don't wanna... this was already covered in the Galfond challenge thread when potential opponents were deciding whether to play.
EDIT: Not that that's what's happening here... just that that's what DNegs is claiming in the July 30th blog post.
There is already a clear history of Responsible Gaming backlash for "challenge" events that have been cross-promoted by sites/players. Backlash that has primarily resulted in a forced reduction of sites' liability via source of wealth checks, deposit limits, elimination of Inter-Account Transfers (aka "P2P transfers"),
contact tracing of gambling-related suicides, sites denying service to "net-withdrawing" players along with a general increase in scrutiny towards regulated sites that ultimately only serves to further drive customers to unregulated/offshore services.
Remember the "Ultimate Sweat" challenge? The one that involved the Staples brothers and Bill Perkins? Which turned out to be a Responsible Gaming nightmare that contributed to an enhanced enforcement of YT policies?

And remember the mid-way point of the inaugural Galfond challenge match versus VeniVidi? That gut-wrenching tweet that received such esteemed praise from colleagues (
here) but failed to consider licensed iGambling RG initiatives?
It would be unwise for regulated U.S. online poker sites to involve themselves in these challenges. The latest DN blog just reinforces what we already know: that challenges (especially when real money is involved) represent a clear, high profile responsible gaming liability (imo).
