Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
I'm really curious to what actually goes through this guys mind? Is it just a weird sense of entitlement or does he somehow think he actually is a legit poker celebrity, or does he just try so hard to be a poker celebrity that he has somehow created like a fantasy land in his own head? Really kinda sad... Kinda reminds me of that documentary about the filmaker who wrote boondock saints, only way more comical...

I love it at 3:34 in part 2 when Marco just busts out laughing for a split second!

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
This guys an ass, he angle shoots all day in cash games !!
about 3 years ago he is at my table at Rio, im not going to go through the whole hand because i dont remember specifics but we are playing 2/5nl and i have J-10 flop comes 10 high rainbow i bet he calls, turn is an under i check he fires out an over pot bet, i call, river is another blank i bet like 1/2 pot he calls, i say Jack-ten he says Queen-ten , now i know i should have just turned up my cards and i learned this now, but i muck and he than says to me "ohhhhhh i meant queen-jack" after my cards are in the muck !!! i ask him if he thinks that was right he then tells me ill split the pot with you and i tell him no thanks you need it that bad take it buddy !!
so i call BS to him saying that he isnt an angle shooting little prick !!!
(dont have to make a discussion about how i should not have mucked i know what i did was the reason i lost but if i would have been on the DL side of it i would have shipped him the pot.)

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
this is 2+2 where you are always at fault and arent allowed to make mistakes, so no one is gonna sympathize with you... but yea, that sounds like Doug

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
IF that story is true, it's a truly stunning angleshoot. think about it, he essentially floated the RIVER to angle the showdown! he wasn't making a Q-hi hero call. thus it's hard to believe- the likelihood of this being successfull is quite minimal. It sounds more likely he misread his hand. Even in that case, he coulda been more contrite.

This. Story is either untrue or accident on Doug's part. I'm surprised noone else is uber tilted from his constant "right, right, right, so, so, so, so." I still love you Doug Lee but please stop saying doing that.

Why not ask some harder questions or challenge him when he continually says ******ed ****?
"So what about luckboxing a circuit event makes you a world champion?"
"What about the photo you took in front of a bunch of Hachem's family photos?"
"So, what you're saying is that a thread with thousands of posts and hundreds of thousands of views was somehow the work of one player with a grudge against you for hitting a semibluff?"
follow that up with questioning him on any number of the stories of angleshooting and general toolbaggery, preferably from someone reputable so we know he's lying when he denies it

the interview is funny because its subtle and not combative. We all know the jokes on Doug, if he did the interview in the fashion you're suggesting it would absolutely suck, you must understand why?

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
Can someone please explain to me why no online site has signed this guy to a deal? Think about it, doug lee himself playing online as a red pro on full tilt would be a goldmine. Who here wouldn't sit with him at .25-.50 nl (remember, you must "bet low to win high") solely for the chance to bust him and endlessly berate him in the chat box? The waitlist for the tables would be endless. Also, the "pro chat" feature would surely be embraced by DL for an opportunity to interact with his many "fans"

Barry G does the same thing, doesn't he always buy in for the minimum in cash games?

It's OK because he did it for information. Poker's an information game.

+1 Yeh I was going to say it's much better just to throw him softballs then let him talk.
It has an Alan Partridge/The Office feel to it where you kind of feel sad for him but it's just too funny not to laugh.

I'm not suggesting he should have gone in there and started asking "So, Mr. Toolbox, tell us how you became one of the largest douches of our generation" so he either clams up or walks out. It just seemed like he was giving Doug mostly softball questions and never really following up when Doug would say something ludicrous. Asking questions like this would make the interview "absolutely suck" how?
"So...you're saying you're on a comparable level of fame as a movie star?"
"Have you ever walked up to a pro you've never met before and asked, 'Hey, we know each other from TV right?'"
It just seemed like he didn't want to call out Doug to his face in the slightest and was trying very hard to not seem disrespectful. I would much rather have seen 5 minutes of Doug squirming in his chair trying to justify away tough/embarrassing questions than the 30 minutes of him just deludedly rambling
