I needed to spend some time working on my PLO game, so I wandered over to 2+2 for the first time since pre-Black Friday.
After a few hours, I needed a break. Stumbled over to NVG for some laughs Noticed this thread was started in 2008. Had a peek. Went deep.
3 days later I've read the entire thread. Worth.
The weird part is that I kinda recall this guy.
I saw that Circuit event when I was in high school (05), and at the time it influenced me NOT TO PLAY POKER! I couldn't stomach the idea of playing a skill game with enough luck that some . . . tool . . . could beat multiple pros.
Also, there was some Doug Lee discussion at my table last time I was in Vegas (July 2013). I was there for business but got in two 1/2 sessions--the second being my last day in Vegas, where I played all night at Harrah's while tripping on shrooms and wearing a bath robe (in a game monitored by the floor because it was so out of control). Good times. Anyway, at one point a nice older British gentleman told me that one of the players who wandered through (long session) had won a circuit ring and never taken it off since. I remember thinking at the time how weird/sad that was to be that attached to the past.
Good chance I've sat with Dougie at a cash game but didn't know about him at the time. Missed opportunity for sure. I wouldn't have been mean to him, but would have had a lot of questions. Especially given my state at the time.
Thanks to SrslySirius for the biggest laugh in the thread . . . "lots of people have written songs about me"
In summary, Doug Lee's game is a bag of jizz. See you on the felt!
