Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

I think 2p2 should pool together the 600 and have someone record a coaching session w him, I think it'd be well worth it

We'd have to join the waiting list, remember he's full up now and no doubt there's a long queue of budding players hoping for a chance to learn from the master.

Not disagreeing with you there that he's a toolbox everywhere. But I probably should have said he has better results than me. I certainly haven't come close to sniffing a final table like that.

Willing to testify on Doug's behalf in exchange for poker lessons. The 2 or 3 posters responsible for this thread need to be stopped.

When it was like 4 seconds left Doug started to get nervous and grabs all of his chips forward very close the marked line at the table, trying to get (I do'nt know) but some kind of a reaction from this guy with the nuts. And from what I was told everyone including the floor manager stared at Doug and was like "What the heck are you doing?", I dunno if Doug got some kind of penalty but that was how he ended the story.
SEEMS FAMILIAR.

Someone calls the clock on him and he sits there. Floor comes over, starts to count down.

When they get to 5-10 seconds left, Doug puts his big chips on top of his stack of chips and pushes it forward (in a dramatic way) just before the line. The line at bellagio for tournaments is binding, but anything that doesn't go over the line doesn't count. So he holds this for 3 seconds looking for a response and the whole table is looking at him saying "WHAT THE ****." The floor is standing RIGHT THERE and says 'hand is dead.' The floor looks at him and says "I have seen that before, you do that again and you get a penalty."

Doug stumbles over his words a bit and claims that he was not trying to angleshoot at all.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

Maybe when he signed with iveypoker they wanted both doug lee and twitter doug lee . I
really hope iveypoker signs the twitter doug lee , he is the better player and person of the two, if this does go to trial the real doug might owe the fake doug some money for carrying him all these years.

I'm surprised to NOT find myself on that list but I guess I've only lurked. Fortunately, if this does go to some sort of defamation suit, I won't be included and you all will. Hahahahah on all of you...

Spoiler:

By the way, for added entertainment (beyond what's in this thread), check out the Facebook comments on the Bluff page: http://www.bluff.com/news/doug-lee-o...il-ivey-45757/ TonyK has more or less led the charge.

Which raises the question, did Bluff give Lee this platform precisely for the page visits from, well, us? Casual poker fans mostly don't know who he is, and the ones who do would have (at best) vague recollection of him from that Kido Pham moment or the Circuit championship final table with JRB, Ivey, Harman, Gabe Thaler, et al. So it seems the only visitors would be by those who will poke fun at him.

It's clearly not just Doug sitting in front of an iPad like Negreanu's vlog. It's cross-lit with what appears to be two softboxes (the one at camera right appears to be a stop or two dimmer). Sadly, even that type of lighting couldn't keep Doug's face from looking glossy, revealing just how oily he is. Also, he has a lav mic clipped to his shirt. So someone made an effort on this video, at least on the production side.

This really is one of the stranger things Doug has ever done. And yes, I read the potato post.

I approached Doug for that interview and conducted it. It was a spontaneous thing, I just saw him hanging around Pavillion and walked up to him. I did so because I'm a long time fan of this thread and find the guy interesting. I've only talked to him briefly in the past and wanted to learn more about him. Of course I was also aware that the videos would most likely find their way here, which is never a bad thing.

You're mostly correct about the lighting setup. But it's not as though we pulled out all the stops for Doug. We have a small studio in the Rio, and all of our interviews use this setup (aside from those conducted in the main media room).

I was let down by the most recent video, actually. Whilst he is still a weird dude, he didn't come off that bad.

...considering what we've seen before.

Oh duh, I never paired your screen name with your real name until now. Thanks for the input. It explains quite a bit that the thumbnail has the split second in which he reveals his WSOPC ring. A conscious decision, I'll assume.

I watched the video again in full screen HD mode. Just out of curiosity, the photography geek in me wants to continue guessing on the lighting setup.

Backdrop: greenscreen, you added the reddish gradient in post.

Main: Your key must be a smaller light source, which would explain the harder shadows behind his collar and under his chin, the specularity of highlights on his face (although I stand by my statement that his complexion doesn't help) and the relative lack of fall-off as we move down his mask and clothes. The catch light in his eye is hard to see but I can somewhat make out its shape from the reflection on his forehead. I'll go with an 24-inch softbox, positioned as much as five feet from his head.

Accent: I'm less versed on these since I don't use them as often as I would like. I'll guess the kicker is at one-third power through a scrim, slightly behind his head and only a few inches out of frame.

Fill: I didn't notice this at first but there appears to be a fill at camera right (the second catch on his eyes and the reflection on his sunglasses reveal this). It's quite faint and somewhat flat so I'll say it's not a bulb but rather a 30-inch round reflector at camera right, throwing light back onto the face and doubling as a gobo to prevent a flare from the kicker.

Incidentally, how many more of these can we expect? Oh, the entertainment value.

Went to reread this thread and found this...

The look on his face when he triumphantly flipped his hand and then realized that he was drawing almost dead was priceless.
