Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

I can't believe Gobboboy went to the trouble of creating roughly 1500 SNs just to keep this thread going and attempt to defame the immortal Doug Lee.

It is obvious that I am the only one who has fallen for it, and the rest of you are Gobbo.

For shame, little man, for shame.

wow one of the best interviews I've seen

Marco is the best at what he does and Gobbo does a great job with the DL stories

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

Dealt to Toolbox today at Venetian. He registered very late -- just before the first break I believe.

I finish dealing a hand and then it happens: I feel a chip hit my hand ... I immediately knew what this meant. It's the "Hey dealer, give me a scramble, here's a tip for ya, a green tournament chip, so funny LOL!" Doug Toolbox Lee Patent/Special. He does this every tournament and has done it to me the other 2 times that I have dealt to him.

He KNOWS that we as dealers are not allowed to scramble the deck during a tournament. Cash game? Sure. Tournament? NO. Not allowed. Yet, he continues to ask dealers to do it for him. I think he just does it to see if they will.

In other amazing news, I also dealt to CHAINSAW. OMG, out of the 13 tables I dealt today, he was top 2 in the whining department. You should have seen the look on his face as he sat there in the HORSE donkament with a below average stack. He looked so lifeless, so unhappy, so frustrated.

"Let's see how I end up getting butchered on this one."
"What did she run me with down this time?"
"We've played 4 levels and blah blah chips/structure etc."

This doesn't add up to me either.

We perceive Doug as a self-absorbed, delusional ****. He's the sort of person you would expect to frequently Google his own name, read every post in this thread, and eagerly await the release of his interview videos. If this persona is real, then he absolutely watched every video, probably multiple times.

So why would he say that he didn't?

A. He's just trying to play it cool. He is totally self-absorbed, but wants to act like he really isn't. This doesn't quite fit though because he said that he tried to watch parts 3 and 4, but couldn't.

B. He is arrogant and delusional, to such a great extent that he's no longer obsessed with his public image. Bare with me here. Lots of athletes say that they don't read what reporters write about them. Movie stars say they don't read the reviews. Doug Lee sees himself as a world champion. Maybe he feels above it all. Ivey doesn't read threads about himself on NVG, so why should Dougie watch himself on YouTube?

C. He did watch the videos, read the reactions, realized that he was being mocked, and is embarrassed. He doesn't want to acknowledge how bad it was. He probably hates Marco for making a fool of him, but doesn't have the balls to say anything about it. So he awkwardly tries to change the subject and stumbles into an obvious lie in the process.

C is likeliest imo.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

Marco, great vids, honestly they were hilarious. Quick question though, does it feel cool to make fun of one of the easiest targets out there? when you get all these pats on the back are you proud? Im honestly not being a prick, Im just curious?

I suppose I was a big fan of quad jacks. Just seems a bit sad to see a talented guy totally cheapen himself by going after the weakest guy out there. I know, I know, it was funny, I agree. I suppose I just dont like the bully mentality and sorta thought Marco was 'cooler' than this and a bit above it. Jimmy Fricke, not so much, his motivation to pick on the toolbox is clear.

I thinks its more that he deserves it rather than him being an easy target. He reminds me of Alan Partridge.

he deserves the abuse, I agree and he has gotten plenty. I just think its easy pickings at this point, dog piling on the guy seems a bit goofy and I just thought Marco was a cooler dude than that. It would be a bit like GSP giving reginald denny one last boot to the head...ok, maybe not so much like that but you get the point.

A lot of great stories in this thread, I know Doug in person and he is a total goof. I just thought Marco was a bit of a dork for doing the interview. Whatever, just my opinion.

Hi Dougie.

Marco didn't do anything rude or abusive. He just asked relevant questions, very politely I might add. Doug did the rest. Toolboxes gonna toolbox.

Maybe he was visibly amused by some of the responses, but honestly, I think we can all agree that he showed remarkable restraint.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

Question for QuadJacks: Has Mr Doug Lee Sir not watched the first video and how he came off? He must realize that you are making fun of him, no? I mean, are you on good terms so you will get more interviews in the future?

I agree that it would be far too easy to go after Doug and be mean to him. I disagree with you that it's what I actually did.

I believe I gave Doug his first opportunity to defend himself and say whatever he wanted, uninterrupted (and largely unchallenged) for almost an hour. Has anyone else ever granted him such an open pulpit?

You cannot seriously accuse me of having "bullied" or "dog piled" on the guy if you have really watched those videos. In fact, I received some heat from some posters here for not having been hard enough on the guy! But I never set out to be hard on him, or try to humiliate him... Believe it or not, I was actually trying to give Doug a fully fair and open trial, so to speak.

Even the latest interview, I believe, clearly exonerates me from any malice. I am not really mocking him in it, I was just being more playful because of the casino environment (as opposed to the more somber studio atmosphere of days earlier). I always treated Doug with basic decency like I would treat anyone else. I consider our relationship secure, I respect the fact that he trusts me to interview him, and I would not rule out future interviews.

You might be confusing the effect with the cause. I can only ask Doug questions... If he is then the one to make arguably risible statements, that is not my business or responsibility. So it might be easy to conclude that, because he is embarrassing himself in the eyes of so many, I am the instigator merely by way of standing there. But "Toolboxes gonna toolbox," as someone already crudely yet aptly remarked.

I am sorry to hear that your esteem of me and QuadJacks has diminished lately, but I hope you will consider my position a little more profoundly.

Love you all!
listen penis breath---your esteem has not diminished one iota. you are a very good interviewer that has fun with an interview so its never a dry give and take. keep doing what your doing and quit being so critical of yourself because of the very few people that would criticize george carlin on his best day. you remind me of the wild, wonderful and whacky steve allan who would crack up during a show and not stop laughing. i love **** like that. keep on keepin on. tk

Lol at how old TK is. I sometimes forget that he was an invited guest at Jesus' Bar Mitzvah. (I kid cause I love...I'm also old for these forums)

Marco, TK is right. Those interviews were awesome, and IMO your skills and techique continue to get better with each interview. There will always be haters, but keep putting out the product you are and there will also always be fans.

Your interviews gave elevated an already legendary thread. Keep up the good work.

Hey Marco. First off, great job on these interviews. One question: when Doug eluded to his "friends that were there" was he just glancing off at empty space, or were there actual Doug Lee supporters in attendance? Either way, I wish your camera man had panned over to wherever he was referring to. Empty space would have been amusing, but I'm also curious to see what a Doug Lee entourage might look like.

Keep up the good work!
