I've know Doug for nearly 20 years. His silliness was there long before winning that circuit event but he is a decent guy, totally harmless unless you're sucker enough to get drilled by some of his angle shots. Doug is just what you would expect, a very insecure guy who feigns confidence and is doing his best to convince others and himself that he is something he is not.

If his "friends" feel this way bout Doug, and openly talk of him as such, that explains why he subjects himself to the implied scrutiny of the QJ interview, in exchange for some sweet exposure. Or I guess there's some tiny chance he's delusional enough to not understand intent of interview.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
This thread has kept errr made doug lee relevant. I fell in love with him somewhere around post 1800. He would've made a good bad guy wrestling manager in the 80s. The one the crowd loved to hate.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
don't look now, Dougie has chiplead @ WPT Bellagio 5-diamond. Pretty meaningless at this point, cept for fact that he's been inspired by another dose of the sweet limelight. hopefully some of his competitors have stories to share.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
Daniel Alaei Eliminated by New Chipleader Doug Lee
Level 7: 400-800, 100 ante
Dan Smith raises to 2,000, Daniel Alaei reraises to 5,800, and Doug Lee four-bets to 25,000. Smith folds, and Alaei moves all in for about 120,000. Lee calls with A-A, and he dominates Alaei's A-K.
The board never gives Alaei any hope, and the aces hold up for Lee to win the pot. Daniel Alaei is eliminated from the tournament.
About ten minutes later, Lee is involved in another big pot. After a 9-high flop, Lee bets 3,500, and his opponent calls. The turn card is low, and Lee checks. His opponent bets 5,000, and Lee check-raises all in. His opponent calls all in for about 60,000 with 9-8 offsuit. Lee turns over Q-Q, and it holds up to win the pot.
Doug Lee - 300,000
Daniel Alaei - Eliminated
Am I missing something ? Did they start giving out rings at the wpt now ?

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
The next hand, Aguiar completes the small blind to 600, Lee raises from the big blind to about 4,000, and Aguiar moves all in. Lee calls with A-K, and Aguiar is dominated with A-2. Lee's hand holds up, and Aguiar is eliminated.
lol nice bet sizing Dougie

Clearly doug lee has the "EFF YOU" mentality towards the pokerworld and is going to take down this WPT title just to shut up all the haters, who hate him because he often hits his semi-bluffs against them...

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
tx to a payout structure only stars could love (and kessler/cousineau), dougie has chance to break his WPT cashless streak, or rather to cash once... he's 0/19 y'all. at least according to him, he's never paid full buyin.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
Layne Flack raised to 3,700 under the gun and Doug Lee made the call from the button. The flop fell J 92 and Flack bet 6,000. Lee made the call and the turn fell K. Flack checked and Lee moved all in. Flack made the snap call and they flipped over their cards:
Flack: K 8
Lee: A Q
River: A
Lee spiked the ace on the river to win the hand and grow his stack to 345,000. Flack was eliminated and exited the tournament area.

Re: Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?
wow, interview of doug on wpt site is as priceless as QJ ones! he lets loose his great pf strategy for aces, and familiarizes audience w/ his resume, coz why wouldn't you. what's really special bout this one, is that he's on the high of a major trny heater, so there's no inihibition in letting the DL flag fly free!
