I think somewhere early in this thread, I replied firmly in the toolbox camp before I'd ever met him outside a few random poker sightings.

Couple years ago friend playing blackjack gets Bellagio Superbowl party tickets and Doug was at our table. We had a good time, talked and I like him just fine now. Poker Doug Lee isn't ALL of Doug Lee. Wow that sounds gay lol. Anyway nah I don't think he's toolboxy but this IS still an epic thread!

EDIT: This is the full story so you don't have to click awful twitter links. UTG shoves for like 600k at 30/60k. Mid position with a big stack calls. Doug says "Allin, two million" from the bb really quickly. I'm right next to him, he clearly only has like 1.35-1.4m. He has 7 40 stacks of 5k chips. Before I can say anything, the big stack says "2 million?" "Yes." and the big stack folds. Doug then wins with AK v 55. I say something as they're shipping the chips to him and he called me a fat internet loser. Very witty sir. Floors do nothing for the massive angle or the insults after.

Was considering making a new thread about this. This was really really bad tonight, guys. He stole thousands of dollars in equity from people at the table, myself included. He's a total scumbag *******. This was just straight up cheating. After his insulting rant which everyone at the table heard, no one really spoke up or pressed for something to be done and the floors did absolutely nothing besides give a really poorly worded warning for 'no one to do anything like what was done again.'

Doug gets away with this **** time after time after time. It's really not funny when it happens to you in a spot where there's so much money at stake. Shame on Planet Hollywood for not having the guts to do the right thing. Even a ****ing one hand penalty would make me feel better. They did a lot of stupid **** during this tournament but letting someone get away with this is ****ing inexcusable.

What he did was definitely penalty worthy.

he's a pos but why couldnt you quickly say "it's actually 1.4" in the time it took for the big stack to ask "2 million" and get an answer?
10-13-2014 , 05:44 AM
It took me a moment to realize that his statement was just a boldfaced lie. The whole thing happened in less than 5 seconds. His stack was 3 racks of chips in 40 stacks, unless you are good at counting chips quickly it's hard to notice.

I am aware that it is human psychology to seek blame in an other person than the culprit, but in this case it's pretty absurd to blame gobbo for not quickly saying something. It is a scummy move by Doug, and the aftermath is even less gentlemanlike.

He tried something at borgata during a satty to the main with me whereby I called his river bluff but wouldn't table his hand. I said I want to see the hand I called u then he tosses his hand toward the muck, then the dealer pushes me the pot and takes my cards into the muck. He then reaches back and tables 94 off suit and says here's my hand what did he have? By now I'm stacking chips and my hand is in the muck. He starts yelling that he wants the floor stating that heist he only one to table a hand and is supposed to win the pot. Anyway floor came didn't know what to do so another floor came and another, eventually they let me keep the pot saying that his mucking his cards toward the muck was considered a fold so he gave up his right to the pot then.
Anyway he is an asshat douche but I will say he's a 'creative douche' to think about all this different scumbag angles.

He's clearly a huge dbag but honestly in this situation he leveled himself. The way it sounds he cost himself more chips because he obv binked the AK and probably would have beaten the other guy. Agree he supposed to get a penalty but his penalty is his misery jimmy. Don't let that tool get ya down Jimmy!
Side note: DOUG IS A FREAK AND A VERY WEIRD DUDE

I was there. I dont even know who Doug Lee is, other than some huge NVG thread I have never followed.

It happened very fast, fwiw, all in-stride of the poker hand. And all is true to what Jimmy said, except a bit of this:

Quote:
After his insulting rant which everyone at the table heard, no one really spoke up
Where several said, "WTF Doug, dont you call anyone a nerd here. If anyone at this table should call someone something, it shouldnt be you." and "how many chips you got Doug? <Doug gives some number> Is that <number> or is that amount inflated by 50% always?"

I believe Jimmy was busy talking with the floor when these comments rained down on Doug.

lol, like that matters at all in this instance.

sorry you had to deal with this Jimmy. Kinda wish i was there cause i have no problem creating a stink about stuff like this in the live poker scene these days. If 1 other person spoke up and put some pressure on the floor, i am sure it would have snow balled and more people (the pros especially) would have all started to speak up.

tmay and stout were there as well right?

on a sidenote, are still people taking "internet nerd" as a insult?

/proud nerd.

If this was a final table, why didn't Jimmy tell the other players Doug is a notorious angle shooter? Perhaps the tournament director for a start, who can then alert the dealers? That there is a large thread on 2+2 - well over 4000 posts - which documents numerous incidents from multiple witnesses over many years of Doug shooting angles? And everyone should proceed with caution?

Not every poker player knows or cares about 2+2. It seems like it's time to alert players around the guy that they need to be very careful, especially if it's a final table.

I remember a tournament where a player (not Doug Lee) tried to shoot an angle twice deep into a tournament. The same exact angle... You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkxcBy6js7s

The tournament director came over and warned the entire table that the guy had already done this once before with a strong hand, and they should be aware of this before proceeding. Even with this info, his opponent still called and lost the hand...

It seems that if you find yourself at a final table with Doug, you really owe it to the other players to alert them to the accusations in this thread.

Ya, he's a POS. Atrocious that he didn't get penalized.
