re: Don't Give In To Amaya(5th of November Protest)

I don't understand why so many people think this can't work. Players just need to get organised. There are thousands of Stars players who read 2+2 all of whose money is getting taken from them and put into the pockets of Amaya shareholders with absolutely nothing given back in return. This effects everyone who plays at Pokerstars not just those who read 2+2.

We actually have the power. The French players managed to do it so I don't see why the rest of world aren't capable of doing the same.

It's not a coincidence that pokerstars.fr have announced no rake increases/withdrawal charges over the last month because they know they won't be able to get away with it.

Unfortunately another reason for this is that they have credible competition in France and if they increase rake in France, players will happily jump ship to Winamax who offer a better product in my opinion.

As has been mentioned already. 888, Party and Ipoker really need to step up.

I went to my favourite Italian restaurant 1 month ago and the food was despicable, I asked for the managers and said I have been a loyal costumer and I will not going back in the near future, I will eventually go back if the food is still **** then I will not go back again, if I didn't give a toss about the restaurant I wouldn't have bother to speak with the manager.

This is basically what we are doing here, trying to make our point and explain to Pokerstars how bad this is going to be for many people and for their business.

And now about you... what are you doing here exactly?

im in for any action, but in reality it wont do that much unless it gets some massive cover, i think we should start by spreading the word across the pokernews and training sites, and then making a move to boicot some of their guaranteed tournaments for example

LOL

50 different posters, 190,000 players at PS right now, like it's going to work....LOL
This affects a VERY little number of players and most posters don't even play those games. So boycotting is DOOMED for FAILURE.

Good players will adjust
Bad players will continue to CRY...lol

I have zero skin in this game. I live in the US and don't play online. I just find it odd that online grinders feel that sites owe them an environment where they can maintain a steady income mutli tabling and skinning the rec players. rec players that the sites spend LOTS of money acquiring.

every dollar that goes from losing to winning player is one dollar that has less of a chance of ever being raked

re: Don't Give In To Amaya(5th of November Protest)

This worked on PS.fr
However, I believe this was tried again on .com a little later and Stars managed to close tables/ban players etc... to make it not work. They learned from the .fr problem.

You need a different plan. I mean really, a real strike could work, if 75% of regs actually decided to not play for a day. However, good luck getting 75% of regs to not show up, unfortunately, that's just not going to happen, considering there's always going to be more than 25% of regs being "OMG no regs, games are so good right now, let's play 24 tables).

re: Don't Give In To Amaya(5th of November Protest)

Sooo when I search Amaya Gaming why do I find this > ?

Police probe lottery firm over Sh93 million fraud

Detectives are investigating allegations that a lottery firm Amaya Gaming Group (K) popularly known as M-Lotto Kwachu Mamili embezzled more than Sh98 million meant for a Nyanza-based charity organisation. The investigators last week obtained an order to freeze the firm's accounts until investigations are complete. The detectives have demanded records for money collected between February 19 and June 14, 2011.

Two years ago, the Central Bank of Kenya, CID and Betting Control and Licensing Board shut down another lottery game over alleged fraud. The detectives from the Nairobi provincial police headquarters are scrutinising the lottery firm's three accounts at NIC Bank following complaints by the Lions Heart Self-Help Group national coordinator David Onyango Aroa over the loss of the funds.

According to the investigations, Aroa is said to have approached Amaya Gaming Group to raise funds through a lottery for the construction of an educational centre for orphans in Wagai in Siaya. The accepted the request and applied for and were issued with license number 2665 by the Betting Control and Licensing Board to collect the money. The license stipulated that 25 per cent of the lottery's gross profit would be paid to Lions Heart Self Help Group for building the educational centre.

However, after four months of collection, Amaya Gaming Group officials allegedly called the charity organisation's officials to Nairobi and offered them Sh3 million, which was rejected. The lottery company later issued the charity organisation with a Sh28 million cheque through their lawyer. Amaya Gaming Group, then filled returns to the Betting Control and Licensing Board claiming to have collected Sh80 million, a claim refuted by the charity organisation.

Aroa's group claims that more than Sh400 million was collected. " The monies held by Amaya Gaming Group at accounts CA2-120007253, CA2-1200007252, CA2-120600001, GS-1800000900 and FA-23260001892 at NIC Bank, NIC House branch are proceeds of the lottery," says an affidavit filed by police. The detectives say it is critical to obtain information on the accounts because it assist the ongoing investigations.

Yet there you are playing on their site. How pathetic. Do you realize what a hypocrite you are? Amaya's people are laughing at you and will laugh all the way to the bank at anybody else that does such an immature thing.

Also, I'm pretty sure there is a precedent for the whole sitout thing from many years ago on Stars. Didn't go so well.

Lol @ this thread.

What all of you protesters fail miserably to realize is that Pokerstars does not give a flying **** about the 2+2 community. Pokerstars makes its money off of recreational players. Recreational players don't care about rake; they just want to gamboooool. I'm surprised it took Pokerstars this long to realize they can raise the rake through the roof without any serious consequences.

Amaya would be laughing himself into a coma reading this thread.

re: Don't Give In To Amaya(5th of November Protest)

dgiharris's posts are great.. I hope someone capable takes leadership of this and we can organize ourselves.. "Good poker players adapt", but there's a point where it's impossible to keep taking hits, everyone has a breaking point where they can't remain profitable anymore. This new policies of Amaya may not be affecting every reg, but if today it's not your problem, tomorrow it can (and probably will) be. We need to be able to organize a group and fight for a common objective guys.. Speaking to the regs who are unaffected by these changes, if in a few months Amaya decided to hurt YOUR bottom line in some way, wouldn't you feel safer if we (the players) had a way to retaliate? If we had some modicum of power, of leverage? Let's unite behind a common goal now. Let's take advantage of this opportunity, because this situation is harming sng players, cash players, HU players.. It's now or never.

Yeah, prolly something in the T&Cs that lets Stars ban you for this. And having a reason to ban a bunch of regs is Xmas come early for them.

re: Don't Give In To Amaya(5th of November Protest)

I think a good portion of players will be watching the FT instead of actually playing. Just my 2c.

What's interesting is that pros expect fish to empathize with them so that fish can give them their money. For lack of a better/less offensive phrase, that is highly delusional. If these changes result in a decrease of the skilled player population, both the fish and Stars will see this as a win. Fish don't know enough about poker to realize how the rake effects them (nor will they care, most likely) and Stars' objective is to make the fish happy, not the guys that take money from fish (which in turn takes money from Stars)

Pokerstars is taking a page out of Commerce's book. It's such a simple but effective solution. Piss off the regs in a way that the fish won't notice. Profit.

If you sit out you are just visibly showing them that you have nowhere else to go and they don't need to worry about you leaving. Protest by playing elsewhere for a day.

Better still, get together in groups of 3 guys who play more or less the same stakes to "prop" and actually get some tables running on a rival site so you can actually get the volume you want.

If nothing else this plan should give everyone an idea of how miniscule the 2+2 community is in the scheme of things.

What happened last time is that Stars restricted the protesters to one table from then on with an email stating that they were slowing the games down and obviously couldn't handle multitabling.

It's amazing that most pros still don't realize that poker sites aren't making money from them. Pros leaving just results in less money leaving the ecosystem. Unless you're one of the few who starts games that don't regularly run. I'm not saying people should be happy about the change but for the most part pros are leeches on the poker ecosystem contributing nothing, so I don't see how boycotting would help...

if:
rake you contribute > $ you withdraw
then stars makes $ off of you. pretty simple. regardless of whether or not you start games, although obv alternatives scenarios are possible where you withdraw more than you contribute in rake and it's still good for stars if you play on their site, just because you start a lot of games. but overall your post is just fairly inaccurate.
