Amaya/Pokerstars have a monopoly on online poker and are making any changes that they believe will increase their bottom line. They have just increased rake across most games:

Added a 2.5% margin on cashouts and deposits when changing currencies.

It is time for players to do something. While it may seem that player power is limited, history has shown that organized player movement can have results. The alternative is to do nothing and let Amaya walk all over you.

A few ideas:

i) A mass player sitout on the 5th of November at 6pm(GMT). At this time you open as many tables as you can and sitout for 2 hours. Explain to other players why this is happening.
ii) Do not use the name pokerstars anywhere. If you do this it gives the company soft advertising. Pokerstars was the old company, Amaya is the present. Call them Amaya.
iii) An organized player movement away from Amaya. Players join together as a union/single group and approach the other sites. If this group of players is significant enough they should be able to negotiate a deal with those sites that gives them amazing rewards and customer service.

How can you protest/what should you do?

- Do not play on Pokerstars/Full Tilt on the 5th of November
- Withdraw money from the sites
- Spread the word and tell others

Please post ideas and support.

Yea that's just not how things work anymore. Unless you want to end up on some shady sites.

we dont need those negative comments, twice in the past pokerplayers have united together against a site and it worked(ps.fr/partypoker), no reason for not giving it a shot here.

raising the rake? i hope their greed bites them in the a$$. why cant there just be one trustworthy site who offered half the standard rake. wouldnt that site just blow up with traffic? never understood why the smaller sites didnt try this to seperate themselves from the big guys.

Cheap shot, that thread has 8 posters, hardly a mass movement. Considering I'm here every day moaning about stars (maybe not every day but it feels like it) and I didn't hear about it, it's hardly a ground swell movement.

I think things have changed significantly with the new rake changes.

An additional suggestion: if you want to hurt Amaya with a reasonable expectation of success, how about regs agreeing on one MTT with a big guarantee to boycott? Make them pay the overlay. The Super Tuesday comes to mind, since I believe it's pretty reg-infested and high buyin so you wouldn't need that many people to participate to pull it off. Boycotting the SM would be more powerful but I think it'd be very hard to succeed.
