Sounds like no one's interested in this anyway though, or in admitting/discussing what kind of software they use. I think that's more telling than anything....

I'm not hatin though. Just kind of interesting to see what the new hustle is.
Do you have any type of evidence or even some rumours that are not based in pure speculations that the top NLHE regs use "custom software" (read: GTO software/bots) while playing at the tables to enhance their play? If so, would you mind sharing it? If it is a big topic maybe start a new thread and link here (or link to existing thread), I think the whole poker community would be very interested. And I don't mean it in any levelling way, I am genuinely interested.

Re: Donger Kim to Nick Frame (TCfromUB) HU Challenge

WCGRider made a nice point generally speaking, but I'm not sure if in this particular case the scenario he imagined would be likely to happen, for more than one reason.

Thirty thousand dollars are six buy-ins at 25/50, so it's close to the 3-5 buy-ins range Polk imagined as a "fair" side bet.

Also, I don't think that both challengers would like to be reminded as the ones who folded to the victory, especially for that amount of money, which is far to be really significant for them I guess.

Last but not least, since it's a challenge to have action, if one of them folds to the victory (or plays clearly too passively in order to get the job done) then that player would be pretty unlikely to get any future action in similar challenges by other opponents in the future, meaning that it would be even less worthed/likely to happen.

Of course this is none of my business, just random thoughts that I had about this topic.

Re: Donger Kim to Nick Frame (TCfromUB) HU Challenge

Kind of lame how tame these challenges have gotten. Top NLHE HU players are so boring and nitty compared to a few years ago. Really not very interested in this challenge. just imo and i still respect the skillz of these players just find it kind of meh from a spectator perspective.

Re: Donger Kim to Nick Frame (TCfromUB) HU Challenge

I for one applaud this challenge, because it's a fun result of the powerlists. I love how Donger Kim and TC (and WCG) choose to do this via NVG, making it public so us droolers can watch and enjoy. (And making NVG a bit more like the noughties.)

That the challenge is not as spectacular as Jungleman/Durrr, I must say: meh. We all know how that went, and both parties said it's a friendly matchup, not a 'HU4Rollzzzzz'-match.

I'm looking forward to this challenge, and like WCG's idea for a small sidebet at a specific number of hands. Also curious about the mentioned escrows (and judges), are they willing to cooperate?

No firm evidence at all. Over the last few months, there have been several posts from regs or reg posters making vague comments about the existence of software that's designed to help provide in-game GTO calculations.

Anyway, I just realized, there's no reason to ask these questions... software like this is expressly forbidden by online poker room T&Cs... the same T&Cs that prevent the use of bots.

So if a reg had such such software, they'd be in violation of the T&Cs... no way they could ever admit this. So, I'm a maroon for asking the question - it's not something a reg could ever admit to anyway. Duh!

Re: Donger Kim to Nick Frame (TCfromUB) HU Challenge

do you guys really think any of these guys wanna be ahead of the other guy on the "power rankings" by folding the last couple of hundreds hands just to win some extra grands called the sidebet? would be slightly +ev, but huuuuuge -fhv (forum hero value). i guess noone would rank high such a nit on a list this prestigous, especially #2 or #3 high.

+1 to sidebets being somewhat stupid, end game tactics are not fun to play out nor entertaining to watch.

Haven't thought too deeply into it. Is there a reason to have a side bet and play 25/50 vs just playing 50/100 and no side bet?

Re: Donger Kim to Nick Frame (TCfromUB) HU Challenge

fwiw, 25/50 with 30k sidebet = 35/70 variance wise (assuming no edges), so just play that imo. neither of you guys is going to back out of 25/50 I'm sure.

Re: Donger Kim to Nick Frame (TCfromUB) HU Challenge

I think a better solution for the bet would be something where they agree to play 5k hands and after those the winner or loser can decide if they continue playing another 5k hands. This way there is no incentive to play losing poker in the end like there would be with a side bet. There should also be a fee of x amount of bins if the other player doesn't want to continue anymore.

Sidebet
If any of the judges deem end game sidebet strategy to have taken place then they can enforce the blow job sanction. The BJS is where the guilty party must proceed to suck off the mushroom tip of the victim party. This cannot be vetoed. The judge will enforce the BJS how he/she sees fit; though the act must be live and public on Joeingram1's live stream.

I'll put up the side bet if the KINGDMER rule is in effect.

JMO need not apply.
