Does EVERYONE win playing on-line poker? Does EVERYONE win playing on-line poker?

Every player I talk to claims to be a winning player. According to them, the donks are giving money on poker sites everynight....it's like an ATM machine!
Just sign on and watch the account grow, baby...

But where are all the losers?

they all win in the chat boxes and the blog sites!!

No real people lose, all of the losing players are bots created by the sites to generate rake.
05-14-2008 , 02:51 PM
No.

Overall, I am a losing player.

I have a fairly small PT database with about 344k hands recorded. According to those stats, the ratio of losers/winners is about 60/40. I am in the majority . . . so far.

You make it sound like every live player isn't exactly the same way. Everyone has too much of an ego to admit they lose because of anything but bad luck, everyone leaves out a few losing sessions when figuring out how much they've won, etc. This is the great thing about poker and what will always keep it profitable for the actual winning players.

True.
But in live poker you can only b.s. to people that don't actually play with you. When I go into my local poker room I can point out players that never win...ever.
On-Line poker is the perfect avenue for b.s. Totally anonymous.

I live in Vegas...and they build Billion Dollar casinos every year. But no one admits to losing. I just find it funny.

Don't get to deep with it....I'm just sayin.

Yeah it's def. easier to tell when someone is FOS live because you see them playing in the same place and losing every night, but if you want to see some real statistics you can probably find a datamine for FTP with a couple million hands pretty cheap.

Take a look at the Sharkscope thread
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...ad.php?t=61228

Of course they are huge cash game winners.

Very few people like to admit they are a losing player. Therefore everyone is ether a winner or "Running Bad".

Hence the Sites are rigged... Doomswitch... cash out curse, etc

And my fav, "I win live, b/c I can get a "read"

I have about 400k hands in my DB across many levels of LHE and NLHE and 2 sites. I happened to look at the summary of all hands the other day and saw pretty similar numbers... about 60/40 for all players, all levels.

To answer OP... I started my online play with a good cash in a MTT, but cashed out when Party closed me out. Put money back online 4 mo ago, and was a losing player at even low levels... just getting to where I am showing small profits this month at the micro levels. I know it's a small sample, and I haven't recovered my losses yet, but I think I will be able to with time.

There are a ton of players like me that are playing for fun, willing to lose a little bit "paying for entertainment" while they are trying to get better. I think most current winning players probably started this way.

Apparently I only talk with the 40%....

I always thought 60/40, but that's only because I play at the micros...
