Sadly all too common, seen that story b4, we will all see it again.

Reminds me of nypokerking with his grand larceny conviction. Stole a little bit didnt get caught, so he continued stealing from the atm machine 150 times, but eventually you get caught.

It must be the degenerate gambling that motivates them. If I were Dennis by the time I took the 22 million and got laid off I would have moved out of the country, at least for a few years to be safe,no?

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Usually white collar criminals don't do very much time in prison . I'd say he gets 10-15 Max plus restitution.

Yes.
Jordan belfort who wolf of wall street is based on only received a few years and he took 200 million from people, different time, slightly different (imo worse) crime, 200 years sounds insane

I'm curious if all the poker losses and checks he made out to cover those losses will need to be paid back from the recipients of those checks.

Reminds me of the movie Owning Mahowny, based on a real life story of guy embezzling millions from a bank he worked at to dust it off in Atlantic City.

So when it seems fishy how someone has so much money to gamble with, it usually is.

Used to be even cheaper - back in the 70s down the road at K55 the campground caretaker would let us stay for a week in exchange for a 12-pack of Miller High Life.

Except before online degens were embezzling and using it to gamble. 20+ years ago a woman took about 15M from a bay area developer over the years. She took off every Friday for her daughter's medical needs.

When the daughter was in her late teens she showed up at Mom's work one day looking for her mom. The owner asked how her treatments were going and she had no idea what he was talking about. They figured it out sometime later.

Mom and dad were in Reno/ Tahoe Vagas every weekend.

Pretty sure Dennis is a major factor into the Bike getting raided by the FBI and other agencies in 2017. And I'm positive both his employer and the Fed's were on to him way earlier then he ever guessed.

And then the Fed's LOL'd when he binked the 2018 WPT/LAPC. *There's reasons the FBI will let you run wild in the hopes of snagging more people in the net that they cast.

It didn't seem like there was so much $ that it would be easy to hide $22M especially when you are likely losing money every year.

For Michelle227, yes, definitely agree and that's a strange story about taking the house in lieu of prosecution haha.
One of my all time favorite movie quotes

I seriously doubt the feds or stylehaul would let Dennis embezzle for another two years. Not like he was a drug dealer or apart of a criminal organization where tracking the bigger fish would be the priority.

The audacity to do these interviews and puff his chest when he was in such a massive hole by then is just so lol.

And I'm sure whatever money he has in crypto isn't in some random offshore cold storage--he blew all of it most likely and has nothing to pay back.

$3,000,000 in slot machine losses. I guess after eight figures might as well yell ONE TIME at Wheel of Fortune.

this case is very interesting. there is precedent in california for lawyers to go after poker winnings after mollys game. but now crypto is involved. with online degens.

will they attempt to seize it? will the players comply?

theres two ways to break the cryptography of bitcoin. harness the electrical energy of the sun for 1000 years and brute force the password, or buy a $5 hammer and threaten to use it if the pw isnt given.

subscribed to the thread.

i tried watching the owning mahony movie, its fine and psh was the goat actor, but it was way too drawn out, had to skip the whole middle. its just degen gambling scene after scene, wins losses wins losses. no real story at all. 2 stars. irl she marries him while hes in prison which was interesting to know. in the movie shes an 8 and hes a 4 on a good day so it was just dumb.

If you're not the gambler then that's a pretty accurate depiction of gambling from some bystander... weirdly pathetic.
