Democrats want to take away online poker Democrats want to take away online poker

Online poker ended under Obama and now today two justices, one appointed by Obama and Ginsburg, the biggest liberal on the court voted against the bill to legalize sports betting and online poker.

Democrats used to stand for freedom and now the only people who voted for it and restored it was Republicans.

Republicans apparently are the only ones who understand that we make a living, pay taxes and can spend our money on what we want to.

From what I read, the ruling affected sports betting only. Where did you see that on-line poker was approved ?

Spoiler: You didn't cuz it wasn't

Politard post, sorry

There was no "bill" voted on, get your facts straight.

Tell you what, why not google online gambling Jeff Sessions, Bill Frist, Sheldon Adelson, Bob Goodlatte, and the UIGEA before posting nonsense like your OP.

I recall the driving force behind the NJ litigation and sportsbetting was Ray Lesniak, a Dem., look it up.

Almost all the Dems voted for that bill (409-2 in the House and unanimous in the Senate per your link) lol. Blackfriday was under Obama and Preet Bharara who is a hardcore Dem. Both parties are heavily influenced by lobbyists.

As it stands now, any professional poker player that is not a libertarian is pretty foolish.

But the republicans already took it away

Sheldon Adelson is online poker's biggest opponent and Trump's biggest supporter.

The driver to ban online poker has for years been Sheldon Adelson.

In light of today's sportsbetting ruling, there may be some State-level realignment of legislative interests re online betting, and maybe poker as an afterthought.

The BEST outcome would be for federal legalization bill for both, logrolling sports and poker, but do not expect that unless there is a hefty tariff paid to the leagues.

ummm do you have any clue how it was passed? UIGEA was attached to a port safety act at the 11th hour by republicans.
it was used as a political tool by republicans to get dems to vote against port safety. and no one had a chance to even read or know UIGEA had been attached.

what a crock of crap this thread is. UIGEA is all republicans fault

The three justices opposed to legalizing online sports betting are Democrats. Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Breyer.

Every conservative voted in support.

In 2018 there is zero debate which side is on more 'liberal' for online poker. It's the Republican party which is starting to lean more libertarian.

Liberals are currently the enemies of liberty.

So Balckfriday wasnt a thing? Atleast UIGEA was done through congress (which I oppose) and not through a lawyer from New York whos a big Obama and Hilary buddy.

Again, I am a libertarian, Im saying both sides are corrupt as hell.

I thought having a president who is a businessman and has interests in the hotel and gaming industries would be a really positive thing for online poker in the US. I don't understand the hate from poker players, I mean they used to all aspire to be ballers in the old days and Trump is like the ultimate baller.
Maybe its just that most poker players are young and generally all young people are left wing these days. They don't aspire to the baller lifestyle anymore, they care more about food additives and looking after the environment lol.

Of course, it was a bill, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992.

It wasn't Jeff Sessions that shut down pokerstars, FTP and PP, it was the Obama justice department.
