EDIT: Snip the misquote

There are a lot of facts out there about Gigabet that I know and other people know.

However, I was told information in confidence and I wouldn't put it out there for people to rip into, especially when I wasn't directly involved in what happened. I think you'll find that most people who know what happened are the same way.

Sorry to disappoint anyone.
So make a new, anonymous account and spill the information. The ZeeJustin scandal is starting to slow down. We need more trainwrecks.

You make this sound like a poor alternative.

SS,

I am not stonewalling. I have a pretty good idea of what happened here, but I have heard a wide range of stories (all pretty consistent regarding the core facts) from a number of different very highly regarded people on the tourney scene. I do not have any firsthand knowledge of Gigabet's situation or dealings with others. I have just heard a lot of stuff. While I'm confident that it is true that he went bust and that a lot of shady stuff transpired after that, I do not know the actual facts ot these shady things, and therefore am leaving the specifics to be told by those with firsthand knowledge.

If these rumors are unfounded and someone steps forward to say that, that is fine too. I doubt that's the case, though.

The reason I brought this up today was that in light of the ZJ scandal, it became clear to me in reading the responses that many people are far too naive and trusting about what goes on in the online poker world.

For both personal moral reasons and financial reasons, I am in favor of anything that increases the level of integrity of the online poker world. No reason the cleaning house should stop with ZeeJustin.
Well said Diablo,
Until recently, I was one of those naive people with simple suspicions. After JJ Prodigy and now ZeeJustin, I am a little more informed/less naive. THe more information the better.

In it of itself i can't complain but things really start to suck when you wake up in the morning and realize the hooker is dead. Its pretty brutal in terms of dealing.

yes gigabet is now gigabusto, gigadebt, and gigacrook

examples
-august TLB, he would have people place bets for him that he was supposed to be responsible for, obv people trust gigabet, put up huge sums of money, never paid

-or when he was staying with scott fischman
they made lastlonger bets
paid at the front
won some from scott
ran up a huge debt and left

Wow. Thanks for spilling the beans. Some may flame you for breaking this news, but I for one appreciate it. I believe he forfeited a reasonable expectation to privacy with his dishonest actions and the pedestal from which he posted.

I'm disappointed in myself for recklessly embracing the Gigamyth.

Do people just think Scott Fischman is there to be taken advantage of? (Dutch Boyd, Gigabet) It sounds like in real life he's the short kid with glasses that gets his lunch money taken from him every day. Only in the poker world it's $100,000+ in cash.

Or, perhaps Scott isn't quite on the level either.

Do you know if he ever multi-accounted Party's MTTs? If so, did he take whatever money he had left out of Party? Do you think this goofy $11 to $215 SnG bet was made on account of him having only enough money to play the $11s and wanting to give the STT forum a reason for his playing that low? Was he successful in convincing the STT crowd that a 75% ROI in the $11s is possible?

Gigabet could convince 70% of the STT crowd just about anything.

YUP

This morning I woke up, surprised to feel fully rested. I was expecting to get woken up mid-sleep for the WCOOP. I wasn't sure what time it was, so I walked downstairs and saw Darrell (Gigabet) playing.
Me: Did I sleep through the WCOOP?
Darrell: Yeah, I played it for you.
Me: Oh
Darrell: You busted.
Me: Why didn't you wake me up?
Darrell: I did.
Me: Umm... ok.
