Yes, but not anyone can lease them, and leasing them is the way most rooms can possibly afford them.

But none of those links tell me whether or not the shufflers are only leased to licensed casinos. That was the part that is what meant by "I'll have to go back and look up where I heard it," which it's why it was the introductory clause in the first sentence, not the second.

So stop with the "it took me 20 seconds of research" like you solved one of the Zodiac ciphers or something. Yeeesh.

Deckmate only offers their shufflers new via a lease agreement with casinos. You or I couldn't contact them right now and buy one from them.

Deckmates can be bought via a third party just like the links listed show. However, they are sold as used or refurbished, they are not new. The prices can vary greatly from these 3rd party sellers from what I've seen. I've seen between $5-$11k for a Deckmate1, and closer to $20k for a Deckmate2.

What I haven't looked into is how these 3rd party used/refurbished vendors acquire the shufflers in the first place. I'm not sure if it's the casino's that have the ability to re-sell them (I think that's doubtful), or how and to whom Deckmate offers them to once they've been replaced with new units.

Damn, I'm sure this must go on in real casinos to a degree without automatic shuffles but must be pretty prevalent in underground gamed where the dealers are in cohooys with the owners.

Haha wait yeah, that's a good question.

I guess it's similar to an auto dealership leasing a car, then selling it as a CPO later. That's probably the majority of CPO vehicles: former leases and rentals. Of course, that gets handled by the manufacturer and dealer (hence the "certified" part of certified pre-owned), not the end user. So if the Deckmate has a similar path, I guess it would be the manufacturer who then puts them on the market as refurbs?

But back to the dealer in that video... I'm still quite curious to know what kind of investigation has gone on (or is still in progress). That guy had to be conspiring with at least one player in that hand.

given the amount of maintenance and repairs those shufflers require, I don't think I would buy one unless I wanted to learn how to fix it when it screws up and stock the wear items and other parts. Good luck finding a circuit board when it fries.
