On day 5, we went from 378 players down to 142, a loss of 62.5%. Of the remaining 142 players (per WSOP list), I count twelve players at 3,000,000 or above, including five at 4,000,000 or above. Play will begin at blinds of 12000/24000, with antes of 3000. Average chip stack is approximately 1450000.
Day 5 chipleader Manoj Viswanathan was eliminated before dinner, as was Daniel Negreanu. One of the key hands of the night was David Bach’s KK eliminating HotKarlMC’s AA on a rivered flush (all-in preflop).
Top ten stacks entering day 6:
4706000 – David Bach
4699000 – Pius Heinz
4654000 – Kyle Johnson
4109000 – Phil “USCPhildo” Collins
4032000 – Ben Lamb (Benba)
3462000 – Aleksandr Mozhnyakov
3354000 – Sebastian Ruthenberg
3327000 – Lars Bonding
3292000 – Bryon Devonshire (MaverickUSC)
3262000 – Thomas Grey
No former WSOP ME champions remain in the field.
Two non-champion final tablists from the last five MEs (including one from 2010's final table) remain:
1988000 – Cheong (2010)
641000 – Cunningham (2006) (Eliminated on day 5 – Lee, Suharto)
Two 2011 WSOP bracelet winners remain:
4032000 – Lamb
2728000 – Bonkowski (Eliminated on day 5 - none)
As for the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year, Phil Hellmuth, who did not win a 2011 WSOP bracelet, leads with 710.25 points but was eliminated from the main event on day 4 prior to the money bubble. Ben Lamb is next with 659.05 points. It seems almost assured that Lamb will pass Hellmuth on day 6 since Lamb only needs to come in 138th place or better (which will give him another 75 points) to take the lead over Hellmuth.
Others remaining who could pass Hellmuth for 2011 WSOP Player of the Year (but only if they win the main event) include David Bach (279.75 points) and Sami “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro (236.25 points). However, Bach would not pass Lamb, even if he won, if Lamb were to finish 7th or better, and Kelopuro would not pass Lamb, even if he won, if Lamb were to make the November Nine.
Two multiple WSOP/WSOPE bracelet winners remain (number of bracelets in parentheses):
2664000 - JP Kelly (2)
641000 - Cunningham (5) (Eliminated on day 5 – Negreanu, F.Deeb, Cernuto)
