Hey everyone! It's that time a year where the wsop hype train begins. For some people they will get the privilege to make the trip to Vegas and play. For most of us, we get to watch the action from a far. Just wondering, for those who play the wsop events... How many events do you usually play? Did you save your money from work to go? Or is poker your work. I'm a casual player for 10 years and always dreamed of going but I like many other dummies have a bank account that sits near empty even with a full time job. Just curious what type of people are playing these things.

I'm in the Cannabis industry in California and save plus use poker money for 2 or 3 events but I really hate losing money so I haven't really chased wsop like I wish. You really need to play wsop imo if you're a tournament fan it is unbelievably exciting and memorable. Just the colossus will do if you want to feel the legit energy of the games there but the structure is fast.

This reminds me of that one time at band camp, when our teachers decided to teach us about essay format.

Beginning, middle, end.

I'm unemployed. Prior to each event I hang out at the airport and hustle together a buyin by telling a made up sob story to tourists.

own a software company, i have a high disposable income, but have never played a WSOP event. I have just booked my flights and comped room at aria for the monster stack though. I usually pay £50-250 events ($75-500) and have played a WPT main event once ($10k). want to play the main one day, but not in a rush.

I'm a lawyer, 53. I am going to take more time off than ever before and play maybe 10 of the lower price WSOP events, plus deepstacks, and some of the other things going on around town. Yes it is money I have saved up for years. Although I am definitely ahead money in poker over the years, I'm not not sure my expectation is always positive because games get tougher and my sample can't be that large despite years of playing. So I am taking a chance playing but I think it's worth it. I think the WSOP does a good job of enticing rec players like me, and I'm the type of player you want out there.

Network Engineer. I save up but have played poker long enough to know I barely belong in a $1 online tournament, forget about real live buy ins at the WSOP. But I still like to take shots and dream (some donk will run hot, why not me!) Last year was my first attempt and I played the milly maker, unsuccessfully. This year I will be going to play the colossus and plan to fire up to 4 bullets. I also may or may not have shipped the 8pm 30k on Bovada Saturday night for a nice bankroll boost which cemented my plans for WSOP this year.

I'm a Call Center Director for several health insurance exchanges. I've only played cash at the WSOP (I was in Vegas on business 3 years ago). Having the buy-in to an event isn't the issue. Time off from work is.

As for saving up, if you can afford to put $200/month aside, that's airfare(from somewhere in North America), hotel and a buy-in for the Colossus plus some spending money.

Las Vegas local who works in the government sector. Not having to plan for the additional cost of travel/lodging helps my bankroll. Played my first bracelet event last year (Colossus), that's about the maximum entry price I'll pay for an event. Previous years I played the DDS $235/$185's and the $200-500 range events at the V/Wynn/Aria/PH.
Use any winnings to play in same type of events. No huge wins yet, but hopefully this summer, so I can play in a $1K-1.5K bracelet event...and then on to the Main Event!

I am 32 years old. I live in Carson city so I play a lot of the Reno tournaments. But haven't made it down to play any WSOP events yet. Hopefully in the next couple years. Definitely would have to save up during the year to play some events.
