It's funny how the people who are victim blaming the most in this thread are generally the same people who make terrible posts everywhere they go.

A lot of people seem to be drawing their own conclusions based on things nobody said. At no point has it been said that anybody bought used computers. The news article it originates from just says that the guy told other poker players that he could get them cheap computers. That could mean a lot of things, and besides we also know that a lot of scams were done by transferring a trojan by USB when visiting friends.

before I had a friend telling me he had contacts with apple or something and could get new macbook pro at 500$ discount(roughly).

the point here is that is exactly what could have happen.

It`s my understanding that main suspect had ownership/part ownership of a computerstore.

Everybody thought he was crushing HS and then he offerd laptops to his friends and their friends in the poker community, so the victims buyed a brand new laptop by one of their best friends...

On so many levels a sic story

@mumpfmanf - this is meant to be a no-names thread in order to maximise the potential for people located in Denmark to participate but I think you know who I was referring to. I read about it in the epic Chuck Bass autobiography thread.

Article from today with some new info: http://www.mx.dk/nyheder/danmark/story/17219166

The most interesting part:

Quote:
Københavns Politi valgte i går, torsdag, at sigte to personer i sagen. Pokerspilleren er endnu ikke sigtet, men betragtes som hovedmistænkt og er fortsat er en del af efterforskningen. De to sigtede er altså to andre personer, som politiet ikke ønsker komme nærmere ind på, hvem er.
Translation:
Yesterday, Thursday, the Copenhagen Police department charged two people. The poker player has not yet been charged with anything, but is considered the main suspect and continues to be a part of the investigation. This means the two people who have been charged are two other people, the identity of whom the Police do not wish to disclose.

So at least two accomplices now, both charged with conspiracy to commit computer fraud.

If scammers and prop bets didn't exist, Jungleman would probably own the world by now.

I think it is fairly well-known that his friends didn't think he was crushing online poker.

You have to understand that we are talking about BEST friends, being together a lot. Of course you trust the person if you train with them, hang out with them, know each other for many years, and even go on trips together(outside of poker).

The man whom we can't mention has also attended the the international games in CrossFit for teams, just a fun fact.

I doubt someone scamming online high stakes would ever acknowledge his "winnings" to his friends. He probably told people he had way less money than he actually did since he was stealing from them and would never be able to attach his winnings to a particular account.

Lottenice was asked what he thought of this guys poker skills, and said something like - Overrated by public, underrated by friends.

If you have the money and a business front, you can break into almost anyone's computer. Somewhere between $40,000 and $250,000 for each exploit. Probably more easier for a non-US company to do this.

WashingtonPost reported that NSA is spending $25 million a year on about 100 of them.

Why? I am just wondering if there is something specific in the thread that shows HM could be compromised... Since that would obviously be a huge problem.

its just that there are clearly programmers who specialize in tracking hands that are being employed in superusing people.

I think rockcat was saying that, in general, people who are involved in hacking/superusing are also involved with people who specialize in tracking poker hands. Not that the creators of HEM have any connection to this at all.

And for the last posters, the prime suspect is clearly Mr. Call Me Maybe.

Quoting this for Lylloff so he can sue you for a few hundred thousand for making false accusations.
