"Posts likes these are really annoying and silly, lol. It's as though you "think" you know me better than I do! If you bet on old me vs new me I'd crush old me bad, real bad. That loss didn't affect ME, it affected my BR! Since that time I've only played three times in the "big game," but the game doesn't even go anymore as people are playing online now.

Since losing in the "big game" that one time I've won virtually all of it back in four sessions including a NL session at Bellagio. Plus I had a really good tournament run at the end of the year and beginning of the year. I've played less poker this year, but the reason for that has nothing to do with confidence or bankroll my dear boy, it has to do with being an experienced gambler and knowing when to take it easy"

This was in response to a post about his losing a large sum and not playing in the big game anymore, which is not news. But, what is strange to me is that he seems to be saying that the Big Game is not being played anymore. Is this correct?

has barry played the big nl games on stars? how has he done then?

It's true, the Big Game rarely if ever goes off anymore.

Only time the game will really go these days is during the WSOP or a major Bellagio tourney (i.e. 5-Diamond coming up), or when they want to discuss some business, or when someone like Guy or Sammy comes to town. (And I'm guessing it's time for Sammy to come back to playing from his annual break now.)

They'd rather sit home and play online or make infinitely more $$$ in other ventures or, if they're gonna go to a casino, play craps as is usually the case with say, Phil Ivey, who's known to go to Red Rock or Venetian to get his craps on.

The "new Big Game" in town now is the 100/200+NL that's been going at the B pretty regularly the past 1-2 months, usually inhabited by Brandon Adams and/or Kenny Tran.

i know he's played in the stars 100/200nl at least, no idea how he's done but i doubt it's a relevant sample size anyway

You would think he would make quite a bit from pokerstars for those commercials he does.

"it has to do with being an experienced gambler and knowing when to take it easy"

Is this his way of saying not playing when you have no edge?
11-21-2007 , 11:33 PM
Maybe his big announcement is that he's going to actually start playing some games at PokerStars. I never see him online :-/

i was at bellagio on sunday and the big game was running (the before mentioned NLHE game with Brandon and Kenny was running too)

I heard form a credible source that he, along with Jonny Chan and Jason Lester will be jumping off the top of the stratosphere on December 1st.

He wanted to delay the post after Thanksgiving, b/c obviously it is disheartening for the entire poker community, and keeping out mind off it during the festivities would be best. I'll miss you guys.

I've been there a few times in the last couple months, and there was either no game at all, or the 100/200 that you mention. It seemed like that game was not playing very big either, with no stacks much over $10k on the table.

"On a totally unrelated note, the next blog I write is going to be very different than anything I’ve ever written before. I considered writing it now, but I wanted to give it some time so I can really think about what it is I’m saying and what the best way to say it is. It’s kind of a good news/bad news blog in a sense, although I prefer to see it as a very good thing and a positive step in my life. I’d explain further but the only way to do that would be to just write the blog now and I’m not going to do that."

I've never been one to say this about DN, but doesn't it sound like there is at least a chance that he may be coming out of the closet or at least leaving his wife? I mean he NEVER mentions her in his blog?
11-22-2007 , 11:15 AM
FFS, didn't you read the 100 posts on this already this week. What about when DN writes, specifically addressing these posts here, "Lots of seriously homophobic people over at that site, lol. I always found it kind of funny that people thought I might be gay. Doesn't offend me in the least, seriously, but it shows me how bad people's gaydar can be when they focus on the wrong things. Earrings + Vegan doesn't equal gay!"

FHP

Maybe his big announcement is that he's quitting poker and going on the pro golf tour. Hey, his swing looks better than Michelle Wie and he can probably post at least better than 20 over par...

yes but saying this, especially with the !, does
11-22-2007 , 11:22 AM
ok my mistake then.. Perhaps he is moving from Las Vegas?

Also, like I said, I was never someone that thought DN was gay. I just find it strange how he speaks about his wife so rarely, yet always seems to be out on the town with friends.

This makes a lot of sense, and was worth posting. thanks

He is probably referring to the fact that 100 people made the same post already this week.

I live in las vegas and love it (although I travel a lot). I thin the real problem is living in las vegas AND being a pro poker player. Now that is a recipe for disaster ill agree

It's obv that he's quitting poker.
11-22-2007 , 04:09 PM
either that or maybe he's quitting poker stars.

he used to have a cushy million dollar job at the wynn that he quit because he had plenty of money and he wanted his freedom.

he took some big hits in the recent past and took the stars job because i believe he was getting low on money.

now he's fattned up his roll again and probably wants to tell stars to take a hike.

its either that or he's going to persue a psychic career with sylvia browne.

"yes......daniel, do you believe in reincarnation?"

"yes i do but you have already had 46 reincarnations, so you are on your last one"

"oh, thanks daniel"
