WOW .. I wish I had found this thread back in May/June ... nice banter without getting too personal between posters along the way!

Not sure how to describe my status with DNegs. Certainly is a central figure in the poker world for quite some time and one of the first to grow my attraction to the game. Lots of players have come and gone along the way. He (and his agent) have positioned themselves nicely and been lucky enough to avoid too many drastic downfalls along the way.

1) He does seem a bit 'something' with the GF, but he is very honest in his Vlogs that he is 'centered' on poker and that she either needs to deal with it or not be around to drag him down. There are plenty of career minded professionals out there (lawyer, doctor) that might seem to put their personal lives in 2nd/3rd place ... his is just out there in public a bit.

It didn't come up today on a quick search, but there was something 'out there' that Amanda Leatherman had sued him or The Big Game show ... possibly on the harassment level. Daniel was also married and still remains cordial with the ex ... I don't really think that spells out 'gay' in very many circles. Speculate all you want about the wild Vegas life that he could've led back in the early days of poker.

2) Don't be fooled by Dnegs' 'hate' of NLH ... How else are you going to get more fish over to the mixed game scene for the pros to beat up one? The pros have been through the learning curve and now can take advantage of any increased interest they can bring into these games. I saw a radio personality out in public once and he readily admitted that he will take the controversial side of an issue just to juice up his show ... even if that wasn't his personal opinion. It just 'good' business IMO .. You can say it's misleading for sure, but in the end a radio show is looking for ratings and DNegs 'may' also have background interests in mind when 'speaking his mind'.

3) Why would anyone think that staking a member of your fantasy team is wrong? Unless it's wrong within the rules. (Obviously not if there's been no public backlash.) Why wouldn't you stack your Tag Team with members of your fantasy team? You play to win the game. I know of a guy who had a minimum of 40% of TWO players at the 2015 WSOP ME FT.

I think it was pretty obvious that DNegs was getting frustrated with 'popcorn' and others who weren't providing the team with points. On the flip side .. was anyone dogging MLeah for pretty much entering every event in hopes of min cashes? There was one day that he was actually 'playing' in 4 events at the same time ... You play to win the game (bet).

4) When PokerGo first got going I assumed that DNegs had his fingers into it ... and probably many other high profile players. Do you really think that they can afford to pay all those guys to do the prop bet episodes? Not sure what FCC (Communications, right?) violation a 'no comment' is, but I will be paying attention to the thread more now. Anyone who thinks there isn't at least some sort of kickback for a 'promo code=xxxx' is crazy. Now to the extent that they also own part of the production company ... Doesn't it make sense that you would use owners and not hire all outside commentators for WSOP coverage? Is Antonio really that good that they keep bringing him back?

5) DNegs' jacket bet is genius. He only pays IF one of the players that he is betting with actually wins the jacket. But if he wins, then hello cash city. I think there was also misunderstanding about the 1:1 bracelet bets as they were fashioned the same way. No payout unless either party wins a bracelet and not tied to 'failure' one way or the other.

As someone who made an unpaid appearance in one of the Vlogs ("10 and 2 baby" during the 50K) I look forward to continued banter in this thread. GL

It's only a +EV bet if he expects to win a jacket more often than the people he's betting against. That is highly unlikely vs some people he bet with like Polk, Haxton, Tollerene, Holz, etc. So I wouldn't be so sure that it's even a +EV bet for him let alone "genius". Also for him to even offer the bet to the guys mentioned seems pretty silly to me.

I don't think that reflects Timex's personal opinion, but moreso what price he can get away with. If DNegs is going for high markup on PokerShares, that's because fans are willing to pay it.

Apparently they're not, though. Because he's listed at markdown for Event #2.

A Willingness to fire as many bullets as possible + a greater incentive than your compeition to finish 1st can make it a good bet even with a skill disadvantage.

The pokershares listings is really strange. Negreanu is at markdown for the events but favorite for the jacket

Did anybody rebuy yesterday? Is the structure not ideal for that, or something like that? If not, maybe there's no incentive for anyone else to rebuy, unless they really really want that purple jacket?

They mentioned that the first person that busted out yesterday rebought.

They seem to be listing all the re-entries today though - and there seem to be more ... not sure if it's because they're being listed, or if more people have had the chance to re-enter, or if more people are choosing to re-enter?

Pretty funny that he busted w/KK to AA in the 4th hand of the tournament and he went on to get 3rd for $300k.

Oh, may have caught his FT elimination hand on the stream - did he get coolered again? QQ<KK ... and then he told Maria Ho he was going to go take a nap?

Unfortunate to see the PokerGo stream table last night. Nothing really went DNegs' way. He had already lost a bunch by the time I tuned in ...

What I really didn't like to see was that he went full HSP mode in one hand and paid off an over-bet when he called out the guys hand. Then he loses a 'flip' AT v KQ I think to bust.

Then the Twitter battle starts after PHell busts concerning 'best in the world' and 'catching up' to these 'young bots' as I call them. Both Daniel and Phil have financial interests in the poker world that these players are either not suited for or haven't figured out how to take advantage of yet. Both of them have the talent/skill to compete but I think they may lack the full focus 'all the time' that these guys show.

There was a cooler hand with a marginal call that hit and neither guy showed any emotion as the chips were figured out .. not really good for the mainstream public. I guess it's fine for a stream, but not good for a TV rebroadcast. Both of them understand that poker needs the emotional side of things 'exposed' to continue to draw in new blood. I just think it's unfortunate that it's the emotional side of them that may keep them from 'keeping' up with this new group of math/bot players. GL

Dnegs saying he'll put in hardcore study time Oct-Dec to be able to compete with the kids. I thought he only needed two weeks

Even though i do not like the guy at all, his apperiance on this show was pretty enjoyable. I thought it was going to be a boring sng donkament (like the ones 2 weeks ago), but dnegs served like an awesome catalyst for the banters between hellmuth and the internet guys (mainly goose.core) and brought up all the conversation and table chat to a different level.

To correct my previous statement on who would i like to see in a 6max nl live game, i'd say

Would be insane to see the table chat/banter between hellmuth and oborra i chose oborra mainly for his 100% perfect technical postflop game that would appear absolutely insane in PH's eyes. Not that it does not in ours till we run Pio, but he'd have 0 clue what is going on.

Has he given up golf? He was crazy on it for a while but doesn't seem to mention it anymore

I think it's (golf) dropped off quite a bit ... girlfriend and focusing on other 'distractions'. I think it was a passing fancy, part of a prop-bet and I think some of his gambling golfer buddies aren't as active as they used to be. Going to the gym certainly has taken some of the golf time out of his routine IMO. If you read into his actions on PokerGo in the 'golf bet' episode with Sam Aber..? I don't think golf is as it once was for him.

I hope he doesn't crush Twitter after/during every Golden Knight hockey game. It's only the preseason ... don't want to put opinions out there when he may 'need' some of these players in the future for promos and stuff. I'm glad that they have a team there to cheer, but it's a looonnngg season and hopefully the excitement carries all the way through. GL
