I like short posts... this is a likely gonna be a LONG SageDonkey-ish type post
(though he's gotten much better of late)
Cliffs: Dnegs has a super simple and obvious play, I'm surprised he hasnt already done this. This might be all gobbledegook and maybe I've just had too much coffee. but wifey still asleep and Im bored so here goes.
So the below is basically a PSA to Dnegs and Rafi (Stars CEO). One of which absolutely reads this thread one absolutely does not.

Recent lolz ITT lead me to thinking more about StarsGroup and their launch in the U.S. (PA for now). Since they spent about 2mill last quarter on just US Lobbying I assume they have bigger plans for US.
Dnegs has a simple play that helps him, the industry, Stars, players and everyone in between. It will bring some much needed positive PR to industry and help promote the "dream", and thus more importantly have a positive impact on new player acquisition.
"dream" = the idea that someone can dedicate themselves to putting in the work required to make a living playing online poker and maybe someday shower in the fame and fortune of a Dwan or Isildur or Jungle or Ivey or Galfond or Ben or ..... Polk???
When all the SNE stuff blew up and some argued killing the dream is bad, I asserted the dream is largely irrelevant , cuz vast majority of players dont care. I was dead wrong.
Even though its true that players that were either playing for their living or considering the same were and still are in the very very small minority, I now understand that the allure and stories and PR it creates has a positive impact on ALL existing and potential players thus accelerates and maybe helps lower cost of player acquisition.
Assumption here is that Stars still cares about poker . Since it was $245M of their $392M Q1 2018 revenue, I'm guessin they care. So please dont say Stars just cares about casino games and wants to kill poker. Do they want to max their profit from poker. ABSOLUTELY. so in that regard more rake is much much better.
Amaya took a drastic and poorly implemented hard turn to the left under the bumbling Baazov. In so many ways everything they did was wrong. Baazov was focused on the very short term lining of his pockets. The SNE money grab being the most apparent example.
Amaya destroyed Stars rep in the industry amongst industry thought leaders and all serious players. This also was the beginning of the end for much of Dnegs reputation within the same group ( though lets keep it real ...
his rep remains VERY positive and continues to grow among the much larger group of peeps who play but know largely nothing about the industry other than what they see on TV.)
The Stars Group ( as its now known) had OPEX of ~$320mill in Q1 2018. (im am oversimplifying financials, not worrying about debt and balance sheet and other technical issues cuz they dont matter ITT, jsut want to keep it simple here for argument flow, so finance wizards please hold off for now).
Opex is basically what Stars groups spends in total to operate and promote their business. So in 2018 Stars Group will spend ~$1 billion operating and promoting their business.
Thats $1,000,000,000 annual spend on stuff of their choosing,
The SNE money grab was estimated to be in the $10-15million in some of the thread back when it blew up.
The Very Simple Play: Dnegs drives and helps announce that the Stars Group after reviewing more carefully the decisions of past mgmt found that ripping earned rewards from existing players was just wrong and they want to make amends in direct compensation to impacted players. That would cost them $10,000,000 of their $1,000,000,000 annual spend. 10mil is a lot of cheese, but comparatively its almost nothing to them.
The positive PR spin Stars could get from this as part of their US launch is hard to calc but substantial. If Dnegs could drive this and be the hero, his status and rep gets back on track with industry insiders (curently in the pits with this group) and goes even higher than it currently is for all else. Good news and buzz in the industry by reinforcing the dream .
Plan needs some detail, adjustments etc but basic play is pretty and simple straightforward.
No way Dnegs was EVER gonna get Bazzbutt to pay the SNEs what they were owed cuz Bazz was an idiot (he created his own mess though by putting out there he would resign if Amaya didnt do tight thing). Rafi is in no way an idiot and an astute CEO that cares about his shareholders. He will see the merit in some version of above
If Dnegs cant talk Rafi into some version of the above, than his speech play game is horribad and most of what Doug and Mason say about him pretty much spot on.

isnt there an app or website that will compare two written samples (of appropriate size and bang that against an algorithm to determine the confidence level of it being written by same person ? ((sort of like a DNA test (96% probability the two blood samples are from the same person)

This is patently false, You see there was this game in Toronto many years ago with this fun player... wait nevermind. Anyway, My client is seeking damages for lost earnings, future lost earning capacity, and other lost business and economic opportunities that he suffered due to the willful and wanton action of the accused..
