I use to play with Daniel practically everyday in Toronto back when he was a nobody playing in the underground and hustling snooker. The guy is like a woman. Very emotional. One minute he's your best friend, the next he doesn't want anything to do with you.

If he's got depression, or some other social anxiety disorder, whatever, ya know? He's got OCD, and a few other problems, but who doesn't. There is only so much you can take, and when you get hounded all the time, he's bound to ignore you, or whomever.

When he played the WPT in Niagara Falls, he was in a sour mood. I was at his table we chatted for a bit, but he talked down to me like i was some peasant from the old days that he surpassed. It did not matter to him that just because i ain't on TV, i don't make money. That's just his attitude. If you are not on the same level as him, and he's not in a good mood, you are just another peasant to him.

He's got a dark side, like all of us. Loves his asian whores, weed, etc.. but come on guys, he's human. I think he does a lot better job then most putting on a good front for the poker community. Most ppl think he's really cool and nice, but we all know better.

This is exactly how I feel.

Stu Ungar likely had an IQ that dwarfs that of Negreanu and that of any other top poker player, but was still a complete degen and despite having won an estimated 30 million $ from poker was broke all the time.

There isn't nearly as much correlation between intelligence and wisdom as you'd think unfortunately, and for all we know, DN is out there betting insane amounts on Hockey games or what not.

No real reason to be a fan of DN, imo. The guy is kindof a doucher. His personality at the table is very condescending, annoying, and know-it-all.

I used to be a fan, but now I view him as almost Helmuthian in the sense that he built his legend slaying amateur players who he hand-reads amazingly. But at a table of sharks, he's the bait.

I lost a lot of respect for him after his appearances on HSP. He ran into some bad beats and nasty coolers, but the way he tilted was so amateur it was nuts. Slamming the table, going on full tilt mode in the middle of a hand vs. Elezra when a scare card came out, finding a way to talk about how good-but-unlucky he was in every interview ... it was pathetic.

That, and I was real disappointed in his Power Hold'em Strategy book when it came out. I was so excited for it, and it turned out to be a low-level, amateur-style read. Boo.

Kinda lame of me to heap on some guy I don't personally know, I realize. But everyone's got an opinion, and that's mine.
